FAQ And 'Help-Me'

If you want to contact a mod without the loss of anonymity that comes via PM, post your question/request here. Don't be shy!

Want a post deleted? Because of anonymity, we rarely delete fills but will consider deleting prompts if they violate the rules.

Have a question, suggestion or complaint?  This is the place to let us know, unless you'd like to contact us privately. You can also de-anon here, if you care to.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I post anonymously?
A: Below the body of your message are two buttons: 'post comment' and 'more options...' Select the 'more options' button and you will be redirected to another page with the ability to preview as well as an option to open a drop down menu from your login name. From there you will have many options, but on the bottom is 'Anonymous'. Select this and it will mark you as anonymous even though you are still logged in. Remember, if you forget, just go back and delete you comment and re-post under anonymous.

Q: My prompt/fill/comment isn't showing up! What's going on?
A: Don't panic! Your post is not gone, just hidden. Sometimes LiveJournal
hides anonymous comments when the commenter is not logged in. Try
logging in or waiting a few hours. Sometimes it even takes a day. Please do not repost your comments without checking with a mod.

Q: When do we have Fill-a-Thon? How long do they last?
A: We have Fill-a-Thon at the start of every month, from the 1st until the 7th: one week. At that time all prompts posted will be deleted and saved to be reposted on the 8th, but this is a stress on the archivers and mods so please remember to save  them for the 8th. We want to encourage
people to fill, instead of just prompt as well as give our archivers a
break!

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been filled?
A: Yes, the more the merrier, plus that makes for an even more pleased OP.

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been claimed?
A: Yes, that's also just fine. Claiming is more for the OP's benefit.

Q: Can I post multiple prompts?
A: Go for it - but try to fill as well as prompt.

Q: When does the meme make a new thread for prompts and fills?
A: When the thread hits 20 pages a new one will be made for that particular category.

Q: I'm posting a big fill. How do I avoid the shrinking format problem?
A: Normally this becomes a problem around post 13-15. To solve the skinny paragraphs, just reply consecutively to the original prompt rather than replying to your previous posts one after the other.

Q: It looks like there's a lot of this pairing. Can I post/request more?
A: Of course! If there's already plenty of a certain character/pairing it's because anons want it.

Q: I have this weird pairing/kink/character fetish. Is it too weird for the meme?
A: Only if it's sexually involving someone under 15. Otherwise, go to town.

Q: What I wrote is kind of out-of-character. Is that OK?
A: Yup. All fills are welcomed here, including OOC ones. If the OP
specified in-character though, they might be disappointed. Do your best
and talk with the OP if you're concerned.

Q. Somebody posted something on my fill that hurts my feelings. Is it dumb to ask for it to be taken down?
A. Not at all. PM the mod
and we'll get right to it.

Q: Can I give feedback to the writers/artists?
A: If it's positive, yes. To avoid hurt feelings (and to encourage writers
of all skill levels) we don't post the hard stuff.

Q: My fill (or one I found) is labeled wrong/is missing in the archives. What do I do?
A: Link it here and we'll fix it ASAP.

Q: My prompt never got filled :( When can I repost it?
A: About a month later is fine.

Q: This prompt is months old. Should/Can I fill it?
A: YES! Even if the OP isn't around, other anons will LOVE to read it. You
can also repost the prompt and your fill if you'd like.

Q: Somebody requested a sequel. Where do I post it?
A: Just make a new thread in the main meme and post from there. Don't worry about keeping it with the original prompt.

Q: How do I upload fanart?
A: You can use sites like Comprehensive List of Adult Friendly Image Hosts, Adult Image Host, or File Fap.

Prompt not on delicious?

(Anonymous) 2013-02-18 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
My prompt isn't showing on delicious although later ones have been for a while. Did I do something wrong? http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4371590#t4371590

Thanks!

Please grant me a series tag

(Anonymous) 2013-02-26 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear Mods,
first of all, thank you for your awesome work on the meme.

I'd like to request a series tag for my Serano/Romlyn fills. Tag could simply be "series:serano".

The first fill with them was "Needs", back on the first part of the meme:
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/1639.html?thread=896103#t896103

I'm currently working on a second fill called "Alone" right here:
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4410246#t4410246

I have a short third fill with them finished already, but wanted to wait with posting it until I'd gotten a series tag for them all.
Is this acceptable, or do I need more fills to justify a series tag?

Fill-a-thons?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-09 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I missed something, but I feel like I haven't seen a "we're in fill-a-thon mode" update here for a long time. Does this kink meme still have them?

Also: is there any way to get some more use out of the neglected "Recommend a Fill" thread? Trying a bi-weekly themed front page notice, like "recommend an Orc fill" or "recommend a Mercer fill" or threesome fill or whatever? I dunno, I'm just up for anything that shows all our author anons some more love.

I posted a prompt and it doesn't appear in the Prompt:Unfilled section in Delicious?
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4660358#t4660358
I don't know if it's just me or if I did something wrong, in that case I'm terribly sorry

Not archived?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-14 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I did something wrong, but the requests before and after my prompt were archived to the unfilled section and mine hasn't been.

I checked the Delicious archives and found that your request was archived, but it was missing the 'unfilled' tag.

I do not know whether this was my or the Delicious' fault, since it tends to eat some of the tags occasionally, but nevertheless, I apologize for the inconvenience.

I added the tag, and now it should be visible in the unfilled section under the day you posted it.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-16 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Not OP of this prompt but it seems to have attracted an unwarranted amount of hate and rudeness in response.

Re: Confused anon

(Anonymous) 2013-03-18 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! Yeah, maybe that's the problem. Should I post it again or leave it as it is?
(I'll keep in mind using the ghost account in future posts ^^)

(Anonymous) 2013-03-20 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Em, yeah, stupid Anon is stupid and put the sequel to my fic as a reply to the wrong comment. It's here, if it needs to be deleted:

http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4750470#t4750470

I already copied it and posted it where it needs to go.

Missing from Delicious?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-21 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't seem to find this story archived in Delicious: http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?view=4758662#t4758662

It's not under char:nahkriin since that tag doesn't exist, nor under kink:draugr.

Archivist!Anon

(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I checked Delicious, and I can confirm that the fill has indeed been labeled under char:nahkriin. I will be adding a kink:draugr as well.

While archiving, I have come to notice a couple of bugs with the new Delicious, some of which I suspect affect the link's visibility. These are:

1) Sometimes I notice, that tags which have been attached to only few posts don't become visible to the users. I don't know why.

2) While browsing this and other kink memes as a prompter and filler, I have come to notice that the tags have been broken for the past weeks since Delicious was updated. It may be that some of these tags are still broken, but I'm speculating with this.

If there problems persist, I suggest you try using the old layout which can be found here: https://previous.delicious.com/skyrimkinkmeme
I myself have been using this with other kink memes, and I have found that the old layout's tag work just fine.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi there! I hope this doesn't sound too nitpicky, but I just found this meme by way of the dragon age kinkmeme and happened to notice that you lifted the How To Meme section (as well as other sections) from that meme word-for-word. Myself and a few other people put quite a bit of work into writing those things out, and although they were written anonymously, they were written specifically for that meme. While there's nothing wrong with y'all using the info, it would really be appreciated if you could add some sort of hat-tip acknowledging it was borrowed from the Dragon Age kinkmeme. Proper sourcing is always appreciated. Thanks!

Two questions from a noob

(Anonymous) 2013-03-27 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello! I'm brand new to the kink meme, and I'm quite turned around, I'm afraid. ^^; I've found a lot of help here on the FAQ and on the "How To" thread, but there are a couple things I'd like clarified:

1. Is it "appropriate" to link to an external site when filling a prompt? I.e., as an a!a, could I comment with a link to ff.net or ao3 where the fill is being posted? (Endeavoring to more cleanly organize a long fill.) Or do you prefer the fill to be posted here, definitely, and there is the option of posting elsewhere?

2. I followed a link and read a discussion about the meme moving to dreamwidth. Did that happen/is that the current place I ought to be, or did it fall to the wayside? I did google "skyrimkinkmeme dreamwidth" and went to the profile, but the most recent entry looked to me to be Nov 2012, so did the meme just move back here to LJ settle, or am I missing something?

Multi-prompt fill?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-28 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
How would you go about posting a fill that incorporates more than one prompt? I mean, so that all the prompts get "credit."

Archivist

(Anonymous) 2013-03-29 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello there!

We allow external links as long as the link has been posted as a comment to the prompt you've filled. Of course, we'd prefer that the fills would be posted to the meme itself since it makes things more easy and straightforward for the users of the meme when they don't have to bounce around the Internet, but in the end it's up to A!A how the fill will be presented. I certainly have no objections to this, but bear in mind that when the fill is posted elsewhere, I have no means to get notices about the its updates.

As for the Dreamwidth, I suspect that the project has ground to a halt. I do not know if host of the site over there is the same person in charge of this LJ meme, and I have received no updates since the topic was brought up in the end of the last year. If you want to know more, you can send a message to the admin if you have an LJ account, but for the time, it seems that this meme will stay in Livejournal.

For the sake of keeping things simple, I'd suggest that you'd post the fill under one of the prompts and link the other ones to Author's Note, and also post the link that leads to your fill to other prompts so that the OPs will see that their requests have been filled.

(Anonymous) 2013-04-02 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
This one is mistagged on the archive: http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=4853267#t4853267

It's tagged as F!DB and het, but is M!DB (and will be slash). It was just recently added, if that helps. Thank you!

Can I or Can't I?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-10 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I was just wondering if I could fill my own requests w/out anyone seconding it because there wasn't an answer in the FAQ and A section.

Re: Can I or Can't I?

(Anonymous) 2013-04-12 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an anon meme, it's not like anyone would know. :P

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Potential a!anon has a question.

I'm considering about filling a few old fills and wondering how one would get it show up on Delicious. Is there something I need to post to catch the archiver's attention? Thanks!

Series Tag!

(Anonymous) 2013-04-14 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
Hello there, mods! I'd like to request a series tag for Cailean, who's worked his way into a few of my fics now. Tag could just be series:cailean.

So far he's been in two fics:

Under Cover (M!DB/Onmund + Drevis Neloren):
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4180614&#t4180614

A Dangerous Game (M!DB/Farengar):
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=3381267&#t3381267

Thanks!

I receive a notification for every message posted in this meme, which means that I see when anons post into old chains as well. All you simply need to do is post your fill as a reply to the prompt you wish to fill, and I will take care of the archiving.

However, if you intend to answer a prompt which has already been filled once, it is vital that you add the parts so, that after you've posted the first part under the prompt, you'll continue posting the parts as a reply to your first part instead of the prompt. Like this:

Prompt
---> (Your fill here) 1/?
********* ---> (Your fill here) 2/?
********* ---> (Your fill here) 3/?

Instead of this, which you must NOT do:

Prompt
---> (Your fill here) 1/?
---> (Your fill here) 2/?

Why do I need to do this?: Delicious doesn't allow me to have two copies of the same link, but I can work around this bug by detaching your post and every reply it receives into a different link , BUT ONLY if it's posted as the picture one demonstrates. If it's posted like picture 2, I can only link the first part, and ONLY the first part, and everyone will be miserable.
