FAQ And 'Help-Me'

If you want to contact a mod without the loss of anonymity that comes via PM, post your question/request here. Don't be shy!

Want a post deleted? Because of anonymity, we rarely delete fills but will consider deleting prompts if they violate the rules.

Have a question, suggestion or complaint?  This is the place to let us know, unless you'd like to contact us privately. You can also de-anon here, if you care to.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I post anonymously?
A: Below the body of your message are two buttons: 'post comment' and 'more options...' Select the 'more options' button and you will be redirected to another page with the ability to preview as well as an option to open a drop down menu from your login name. From there you will have many options, but on the bottom is 'Anonymous'. Select this and it will mark you as anonymous even though you are still logged in. Remember, if you forget, just go back and delete you comment and re-post under anonymous.

Q: My prompt/fill/comment isn't showing up! What's going on?
A: Don't panic! Your post is not gone, just hidden. Sometimes LiveJournal
hides anonymous comments when the commenter is not logged in. Try
logging in or waiting a few hours. Sometimes it even takes a day. Please do not repost your comments without checking with a mod.

Q: When do we have Fill-a-Thon? How long do they last?
A: We have Fill-a-Thon at the start of every month, from the 1st until the 7th: one week. At that time all prompts posted will be deleted and saved to be reposted on the 8th, but this is a stress on the archivers and mods so please remember to save  them for the 8th. We want to encourage
people to fill, instead of just prompt as well as give our archivers a
break!

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been filled?
A: Yes, the more the merrier, plus that makes for an even more pleased OP.

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been claimed?
A: Yes, that's also just fine. Claiming is more for the OP's benefit.

Q: Can I post multiple prompts?
A: Go for it - but try to fill as well as prompt.

Q: When does the meme make a new thread for prompts and fills?
A: When the thread hits 20 pages a new one will be made for that particular category.

Q: I'm posting a big fill. How do I avoid the shrinking format problem?
A: Normally this becomes a problem around post 13-15. To solve the skinny paragraphs, just reply consecutively to the original prompt rather than replying to your previous posts one after the other.

Q: It looks like there's a lot of this pairing. Can I post/request more?
A: Of course! If there's already plenty of a certain character/pairing it's because anons want it.

Q: I have this weird pairing/kink/character fetish. Is it too weird for the meme?
A: Only if it's sexually involving someone under 15. Otherwise, go to town.

Q: What I wrote is kind of out-of-character. Is that OK?
A: Yup. All fills are welcomed here, including OOC ones. If the OP
specified in-character though, they might be disappointed. Do your best
and talk with the OP if you're concerned.

Q. Somebody posted something on my fill that hurts my feelings. Is it dumb to ask for it to be taken down?
A. Not at all. PM the mod
and we'll get right to it.

Q: Can I give feedback to the writers/artists?
A: If it's positive, yes. To avoid hurt feelings (and to encourage writers
of all skill levels) we don't post the hard stuff.

Q: My fill (or one I found) is labeled wrong/is missing in the archives. What do I do?
A: Link it here and we'll fix it ASAP.

Q: My prompt never got filled :( When can I repost it?
A: About a month later is fine.

Q: This prompt is months old. Should/Can I fill it?
A: YES! Even if the OP isn't around, other anons will LOVE to read it. You
can also repost the prompt and your fill if you'd like.

Q: Somebody requested a sequel. Where do I post it?
A: Just make a new thread in the main meme and post from there. Don't worry about keeping it with the original prompt.

Q: How do I upload fanart?
A: You can use sites like Comprehensive List of Adult Friendly Image Hosts, Adult Image Host, or File Fap.

Re: I am redoing this prompt can the old one be deleted please

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2014-10-12 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon,

All done. My confusion was when you called the fill a prompt. The prompt is the post by the OP, which is the request for the story (the fill). Let me know if you need anything else. :)

Anon,

It's running a fine edge, and while I'll agree there is nothing wrong with the above statement/question, I do not want to say go ahead and have others potentially stretch it. That being said, If you must say something you will and if it causes trouble I will delete it.

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2014-10-12 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
To request a prompt please either click on the links (list on the right) and choose from either the Skyrim Thread (latest one is six), the Elder Scrolls Thread (which encompasses all games from Oblivion down), or EOS (which will not be posted on delicious until a few months after it's console release).

Now that you've clicked on the proper page you need to find the 'Post a Comment' link, normally just below the header of the thread or at the bottom of the page. Please make sure to post anonymously, this can be selected in the user tab at your post.

Post title should be the pairing's of your prompt or a very brief description (any triggers you have in the prompt should be posted in the title as well.

Ex. Farkas/F!DB - kidnapped by silverhand (violence/torture)

And the body of your post should be a descrition of what your looking for in a potential fill, your kinks and your squicks (which are things you DO NOT want to see in a fill).

Let me know if you have any more questions and if you mess up posting your first prompt, let me know here and I can delete it for you.

Insults

(Anonymous) 2014-10-24 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen you respond to a few people on when they don't like something to bring it up for discussion with you. I have to ask, what is the policy on insults? And I don't mean when someone insults an author - thats not okay. I mean insults to characters.

Lemme go further: So, there's a few villainous characters within Skyrim. But anytime a harsh insult comes up towards them, its usually aimed at the women. Like Astrid or elenwen. How come its alright to call them a 'cunt' or 'bitch' or 'slut' with a pretty staple agreement across the board, but if you say Ulfric or Mercer is a prick the response is usually on how deep that makes them or giggling and 'yeah, but hes so hot !'. Why is it okay to call women the worst things? I guess I'm mostly just disturbed on the women bashing on the meme in contrast to the men who are treated like idols over it.

Thoughts mod?

Anon,

I will admit I have noticed more female character bashing than male character bashing, but it's not a large difference that I would try to confront the issue. I appreciate you bringing up your concerns here, it's a safe place to discuss any issues you may see around the meme.

That being said, here is my opinion on the matter. I feel that this can be one of those grey areas. Sometimes character bashing, though not against the rules, can trigger severe backlash when done in a way that demoralizes them. For example if I saw a comment that said "Elenwen is a slut because so and so..." it would be removed. It's durogatory, and it wouldn't matter at that point that she is a fictional character or not.

If someone said "I personally this Elenwen is a bitch because..." and as long as nothing against her race, gender, or sexual preferences followed that, I would ignore it. Not everyone is going to like the same characters and I personally feel Ulfric is an asshole, but he's a popular character and many people find that quality sculpts him as a character. The same could be said of say Astrid, her so called 'bitchyness' does not have to be a negetive. Many people could see that as just her being assertive and in-charge. What one person calls a negative, another calls a positive.

Unless I see something that can be cause for alarm or against the rules, I won't take any action.

If you've seen something that you think could be against the rules or crosses that fictional line into real offense please let me know and I'll check it out. :)

What's the NaNoWriMo? Is that something you host or is that, like, a different KMeme?

Okay. Thanks for the link! It sounds so cool, I suddenly wish I wasn't a full time college student. Hahahh.. :)

Hello, mods! Sorry to be a bother, but one of my posts posted twice for some reason and I was hoping someone could take the extra one (linked above) down. Please and thank you!

Double Fills?

(Anonymous) 2014-11-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Not that I think there would be a problem with this, but is there a rule/advice against the same anon filling a prompt twice? I don't even know why I'm asking, I just don't want to disappoint anyone... :\

Re: Curious Anon is Curious.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-06 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Passerby!Anon is late but would like to point out that LOTS of full-time college students -- many of whom also work -- take a shot at NaNoWriMo every year, and many of them actually manage to get to 50k. This anon, college + work + three high-maintenance dogs + NaNo, is already far ahead of the projected goal for this date, mostly by being a rebel and including kmeme fills in the word count.

So if you feel like trying it out next year and are still working on ze college, I wave pompoms in your general direction!

Using two prompts at once

(Anonymous) 2014-11-06 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Apologies if this has already come up, lovely mod, but I have an idea for a fill that can apply to two prompts. The prompts are not related to each other at all.

(the prompts are http : // skyrimkinkmeme . livejournal . com/4580 . html?thread=9303268#t9303268 and http : // skyrimkinkmeme . livejournal . com/4941 . html?thread=10138445#t10138445, if it matters)

So my question is, can I post the fill under the 'primary' prompt (the first one listed above) and put a link to it under the other one? Do you think anyone would be annoyed by my doing this?

(I would, of course, note that anyone who was looking at the second prompt should definitely not think "oh it's already been filled" and be discouraged from filling too.)

I tried to post a fill and it was marked as spam sorry, I don't have a link... but if you could get it fixed please? :) <3

Hey, uhm. Never mind. The story turned out really bad and I no longer wish to continue it, so you don't have to unmark it as spam. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Using two prompts at once

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon,

To avoid any potential issues with posting a link to a fill for a prompt that was not originally written for that prompt, I would say to not post a link. Even if you say it's not meant to discourage another fill, it may indeed have that effect.

Re: Marked as Spam

Anon,

In the future, if you have this problem, please let me know what the post was titled so I can find it in the spam listing more easily. Thanks! :)

Re: Double Fills?

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon,

There is no rule against double filling a prompt.

However, if you are unhappy with a previous fill, you are more than welcome to ask any number of our wonderful Anons here to beta for you. If you want an extra pair of eyes on it I would recommend posting in the Discussions Thread.

I have added your series tag to all but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Those links all have multi-fills and I am unsure which ones to tag. Could you please specify? Thank you. :)

Oops, sorry. 2nd is "Drowning", 3rd is "Charity Case" and 4th is "Identity Crisis". Thank you.
