F!DB/Bolli: "The Things He Lacks" 5/?

Despite his comfortable night’s rest, Bolli was slipping out of the Bee and Barb before the sun rose. Though he had spent nights at the Bunkhouse before, he wasn’t worried about any of its patrons telling Nivenor where he had been. The main inn was a different story. He glanced back at the door, slightly guilty at having left Nadia nude and asleep in her bed, but hurried home all the same.

Nivenor stirred slightly when her husband joined her in bed, but hummed appreciatively at the presence of his warmth.

“Out drinking again?” she asked sleepily, turning to face him. “I wish you wouldn’t stay out so late. It would be nice to not have to sleep alone so often.” Bolli nodded weakly, wrapping an arm around her as he drifted back to sleep.

“I’m sorry, love,” was all he could say.

It wasn’t long before the fisherman and the traveler encountered each other again. Nadia was at Marise’s stall when her lover headed for the fishery, and Bolli felt his heart in his throat as he approached her. The Breton leveled him with a cool smile, and he approached cautiously.

“Can I…talk to you?” he asked weakly, offering Marise a wave. Nadia nodded wordlessly, and followed him to the secluded courtyard of the temple.

“I got you something,” he began, fumbling in his pockets for the necklace he had snuck out of Nivenor’s overflowing jewelry box. “My wife bought these in bulk, she won’t notice it’s gone. I thought it would look good on you.”

“How very romantic,” Nadia replied sarcastically. “I’d rather not take it. Jewelry for sex would make me feel like a common whore. I appreciate the thought, though.” Bolli’s hand dropped to his side, and the girl smiled genuinely. “What’s the matter?”

“I feel so guilty for leaving you without a goodbye,” the Nord said helplessly. “You deserve so much better than that, after letting me stay with you—”

“Bolli, please. I’m not angry.” Seeing the shock on her lover’s face, Nadia rolled her eyes affectionately. “Okay. I was angry. I didn’t expect to wake up alone. But if you had really treated me the way I thought you planned to, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. You would have walked right by me without a word.” She placed a hand on his shoulder, her eyes soft and, Bolli noted, just a bit sexy. “As far as I’m concerned, you’ve already done more than I expected you to. So I’m impressed.” Bolli felt the same heat from last night rushing to his head once more, and the Breton smirked slightly. “What are you doing today?”

“Right now, I’m thinking about telling Tythis to take care of things for today so that I can spend the day in bed with you.”

“Ha! Well, that wasn’t the answer I expected,” Nadia teased, taking a step closer. “I’m not against the idea, you know. I don’t have a plan for today yet.” Bolli lay a hand firmly on her hip, grinning down at her.

“In that case…I’ll meet you in your room shortly.”
