Re: Caught by a Jarl Ch 1?

Mekara snuck into Dragonsreach, a smirk on her face as she passed another guard without him knowing. She had a few things to collect, a mission given by the guild. She knew here she could score big, first Farengar’s room, then on to Balgruuf’s room.
She peaked around the corner into Farengar’s room to find the mage at his enchanters table. Not quite what she had planned. She decided to return later, at the moment it was too chancy.

She snuck passed a few more guards, her Bosmier ears picking up the slightest sound from up the stairs. So far it was quiet, but that meant nothing. She prayed to the nine that she didn’t get caught, it wouldn’t do for the Thane of Whiterun to get caught in her Jarl’s room. Now if it was under different circumstances it might have been amusing and downright satisfying if she had it her way.

She crept up the stairs, trying to keep everything in sight. So far no one had noticed her. She had watched the steward walk out onto the great porch, so she knew she was safe from him. The man stayed out there for hours at a time. Balgruuf was down on his throne holding court. Hopefully, that took a bit and she was sure it would. Irileth wouldn’t leave Balgruuf’s side, so there was no problems there. So far everything was going without a hitch. There was hardly any chance of getting caught. The guards weren’t that watchful, not used to having one of the thieves’ guild sneaking in.

Getting into the Jarl’s room was child’s play, there were barely any guards around. But the kids, they were more of a problem, she couldn’t believe she had forgot about them. They seemed to pop up everywhere. She sighed in relief when the room was empty of guards and children.

Quickly she moved over to one end table and was surprised not find anything worthwhile. She glanced around quickly and saw a safe in the corner. A grin split her face, jackpot! Quickly she moved over to the safe, slipping out her lockpicks. Her whole focus was getting that safe unlocked, she didn’t bother paying attention around her thinking she was safe enough.

Or so she thought until she heard a clearing of the throat. Her hands froze in mid motion, her heart picked up speed. She slowly turned and found Balgruuf standing near the closed door, arms crossed his chest, a intent stare on his face. She knew all he had to do was call for the guards and they would be in here in seconds. Slowly she rose to her feet, unsure what would be the safest course of action. She watched the blond nord slowly walk into the room, surprise written on his face when he saw that it was her.

She watched as his lean body, moved, muscles flexing, the candle light highlighting each muscles. In her mind she slapped herself for being side tracked by her lust filled mind every time this man was around.

“I wondered how long it would take…” Balgruuf murmured with a smirked as he sauntered further into the room.

Mekara eyes narrowed, trying to figure out what he meant by that comment. “Mind explaining?” she asked with a coy smile.

“You’re here because a contract from the thieves guild? One given to you specifically?” Balgruuf asked with a knowing look.

Mekara’s eyes widened, she took a step back. Now she was kicking herself, this had been a trap so Balgruuf could catch a members of the thieve’s guild. He had known she was part of that guild. She swallowed nervously. “What do you want?”

“The way I see it is you have two options. One - you deny me what I want and I call the guards. You can spend some time in a cell. Or you do as I say and I’ll not call the guards…” Balgruuf murmured with a smug grin.

“What do you want?” Mekara asked nervously. She moved further into the room, well away from the conspiring Jarl. She had never seen this side of Balgruuf before and she wasn’t sure what to make of it.

“First, remove your weapons and armor,” Balgruuf ordered as he took a seat on one of the chairs.
