The night was crisp, which surprised Argis. From the house's second story terrace he could see the lake and what lay beyond. He had seen the variances in Skyrim's landscape but it felt different knowing that this was what he would see every night. The moons hung over head, their crescent shapes peering through the smattering of clouds, while the stars shone in their glory. If it wasn't for the lanterns around him Argis knew that he could see further into the night.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
Argis smiled and nodded, not bothering to glance back. "I would be lying if I said it wasn't."
Nikolai leaned against the railing and followed Argis' gaze. "The house is quite now. Managed to get Lucia into bed without much of a fuss."
"And your housecarl?"
"She shares the room with Lucia for the time being. Both for the girl's peace of mind as well as my own."
Argis took in a deep breath, smelling the fire from the lanterns mixing with the scents of the river. "What made you decide that this was the place to live?"
Nikolai replied without hesitation, "It's hidden away. I can feel safe knowing that only certain people know of its existence. Easier to discern friend from foe."
"It sounds like you have something to hide."
With a soft laugh Nikolai slipped closer to the warrior. "I suppose you could say that I do." He kissed Argis on the shoulder, causing the man to look at him and giving Nikolai the opportunity to kiss him properly. "Shall we go to bed ourselves?"
"I was rather enjoying the night air."
Nikolai raised an eyebrow, "Really? You mind if I join you?"
"I'd prefer it."
Nikolai expected to dance around the idea of doing anything more than stand close to Argis but it was obvious the man had other thoughts. The older man took him by the waist, picking him up and setting him on the railing with little effort. Argis kissed him softly and gripped his hips tightly. Nikolai wrapped his legs around Argis and pulled him close.
"I take it I'm finally forgiven for yesterday's fiasco," Nikolai said softly.
"For the most part." One of Argis' hands trailed up Nikolai's back and nestled in his blonde mane. He took a fistful of it and pulled the man's head back to expose his neck. "Just don't do it again."
Nikolai could barely give an affirmative response as Argis seemed to attack his neck. He closed his eyes and let the man do what he wanted. Nikolai couldn't help but note how comfortable Argis was with their situation. He smiled to himself. He didn't have to worry as much about the older man being out of his depth or self-conscious. No. It was rather obvious that Argis was more than willing to take control when it came to such things.
