[FILL] Soothing Embrace 4/?

A creak brought him out of his thoughts, a blond head peaked in his room and he couldn’t help himself but to smile at her beautiful face. Now clean and revitalized, she looked stunning even in her lose, sleeping clothes.

The imperial walked in and sat next to him on his bed. Both sat there in silence for what seemed like hours until Vilkas wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back with him until both were lying on his bed.

“I know you know this is who you are.” He broke the tense silence, her muscles loosening at the sound of his voice. One of his hands started caressing the side of her arm, loving the feeling of her smooth skin.

“Yeah, I know it has always been inside me. But, being face to face with a reality I didn’t ask for can get hard to deal with.” Her breathing tickled the skin above the collar of his shirt. She was so small but felt warm and inviting. His hand stopped caressing her arm and moved down to hold her hand.

“Would you go back?” The twin asked, moving his head so he could look down at her face. He feared what answer might meet his ears, and hoped for his heart to not get broken. Ever since she came into the mead hall, scared and smeared in dirt, his heart leaped and almost made its way out of his chest.

“To stay with my rich family, marry a noble gentleman and live my life as a wife and mother, not having to worry about crazy dragons or getting bandits?” Her voice sounded sure, like she’s thought of this before.

He had to admit, she had been the most beautiful and adorable woman he’s ever met. He could even say it was love at first sight. They didn’t always get along, but if she says that she would rather give all this up for the perfect life of someone of her caliber… At first he wouldn’t blame her. Then he would hear the pieces of his heart fall on the ground carelessly. Not that he would blame her for that either, it’s not like he’s ever said anything.

Situations like this became a casual thing once they put their differences aside and started working as a team. He always promised to tell her the next day, but the next day turned into weeks and those weeks into months. And here he is, more than a year later and the girl is still clueless except for the small kiss they shared earlier.
