ArchmageM!Dragonborn + Ulfric Stormcloak. Pushing things too far.

The Dragonborn saved Tamriel from Alduin and then went to the College of Winterhold, wanting nothing to do with the Civil War. Frankly both sides are idiots and if they want to massacre each other and get all the stupidity out of the gene pool then so much the better.

General Tullius has sent a couple of couriers on occasion but they always return weak and trembling with letters filled with some of the most venomous language ever penned. The Dragonborn is still holding onto a grudge for that redguard bitch of a captain ordering his death. Tullius wisely gives up on recruiting the dragonborn.

Unfortunately Ulfric Stormcloak has a bee in his bonnet about being high king, and he refuses to stop soliciting the Dragonborns aid. His gifts of coin and gems are returned with polite letters of refusal, magickal items dating from Ysgramors time are returned after being carefully catalogued and the enchantments duplicated, and the weapons he has custom forged are usually sent back enchanted with an irritable Dremora bound to them for a day who tells Ulfric to stop bloody pestering my master.

No one accused Ulfric of having good sense though and he marches an army on Winterhold, perhaps force will work, or a threat to burn down the College.

Which is the absolute worst thing he could have done, as he finds out when the Dragonborn uses call storm/call dragon/multiple summons/the ritual/invisible sniping destruction mages/ magickal destruction macguffin of your choice to obliterate the stormcloak army before he slits Ulfric's throat and pointedly tells the survivors that that is enough, and he's going back to his research, so keep the damn noise down.
