Outside the realisation of the situation stuck in. He was injured, yet he would have to carry everything. His thane would make him climb; yet his ankle was broken. His Thane would make him run, yet he had broken ribs.
He began to madly search the surrounding area. The housecarl didn’t remember much from the many alchemy classes he received but knew what ingredients were good for healing.
Yet none of what he knew was around here. He found one plant that after chewing relieved some pain but the injuries were still there.
He considered again what would happen if he asked his Thane for a health potion but memories of the last time he asked sprung to mind
“Housecarl, when you can afford your own potions and buy your own potions then you will get potions, don’t try and steal mine. Fuck.” His thane had said quite angrily that the thought had even occurred.
He collected more of the plant that dulled his pain and using a section of his spare tunic bound his ankle tightly. When he took his boot off he winced at the deep purple bruising that was already there.
“Now’s not the time to show any weakness.” He muttered to himself. “If you’re weak you’ll never gain his respect.” He encouraged himself as he pulled his boot back on that fight tightly.
After removing his chest plate and examining his ribs he found a bleeding wound which he again wrapped tightly and hoped for the best.
They needed to head back to Markarth so once there Argis would deal with his injuries, until then there was nothing he could do. He searched through the pack and lightened the load, careful to not discard anything that belonged to his Thane.
“Areas, where are you?” Argis head his Thane angrily shout after an hour or so. Argis walked as normally as he could over to his Thane carrying the pack.
“Here my Thane. Where to now?”
“Home. I need to replace my sword and a proper meal wouldn’t kill me. Though your cooking might.” Argis nodded and followed his Thane obligingly keeping his limping to a minimum.
Argis gritted his teeth and dug his nails into his palms with every step and every breath as he tried to continue as normally as possible, despite the searing pain he was in.
