Oh, Dyce!Anon. I've been a bad fan-girl. I need to make it up to you. Comments for everybody!
So, I'm loving this. It's great the way you can dip down to deeper meanings and then bob back up for lightness. Very nice. And I disagree with anyone saying that Dyce hasn't had emotional depth in his previous stories. The Yrsarald story was excellent in bringing home the fact that Skyrim is a nation at war with all the pain that goes along with it. And the Mercer story was simply horrifing in illustrating what a monster Mercer was.
But, back to Erandur. Who, I have to admit I was suprised that Dyce didn't hit that. Erandur is pretty hot, considering how many requests he gets on the Ole Kink Meme. And it especially telling that Dyce withheld his charm and affections. It's almost like he views Erandur as a father figure. And for someone raised in an all-female temple, that's got to be meaningful.
I loved Dyce explaining his Dibellain world-view. He does have his own code of honor and he certainly keeps to it. I noticed that Farkas was on the list of people he loves, and so I'm hoping there's a chapter with him brewing.
And finally, I love that Dyce is trying to get himself out of the Daedra contract. One of the things I dislike about the Thieve's questline is the unelegantly forced Nocturnal conversion. Because, really, I could have taken Mercer without Nocturnal's 'gifts' thank you very much! Especially when you don't seem to have any of these 'gifts' except for the sexy armour when you fight Mercer! (Sorry, this bugs me)
So, Go Dyce!! Yay for him and Yay for Erandur and yay for seeing where this story goes.
