CONTINUE: Heads Will Roll [3/?]

“I’m sorry, I just wanted to see if you got injured.” Vilkas’ grey eyes didn’t turn to look at her but he did lift his right hand up for her to see. For a minute she didn’t understand what he was doing, but then she noticed the bandages coming out of the long sleeve of his shirt. Her stomach dropped.

“I was able to stop most of the rocks falling on you, but your leg wasn’t so lucky. You injured it when you fell off.” Using the injured hand, Vilkas turned a page on his book, reading on without paying much attention to her.

Even if her heart jumped when he told her he was the one who saved her from further danger, guilt overpowered her being. He was right, she was too clumsy and wasn’t careful around others. She could understand his lack of interest in her. Better yet, she could understand if he didn’t want to be too close to her.

“Thank you for saving me.” With no more said, she slowly turned around on the heel of her good foot and before she could hop back to her room, Vilkas tsked and stood up.

“Are you hungry, do you want anything to drink?” He asked as his good hand grabbed her forearm and pulled her to him off the wall she was holding herself steady with.

Thales was caught completely off guard, her mouth not moving, her mind in a daze as he walked her to his brother’s bed. At the thought of Farkas, her mind completely cleared.

“Is Farkas back from the quest? Is it okay with him for me to be in his bedroom?” She asked while attempting to sit on the bed gracefully but failing by a long shot as she bounced. Looking up at Vilkas, she couldn’t help but blush. He looked so handsome from where he was standing looking down at her.

“Don’t answer a question with a question, whelp.” Vilkas crossed his arms and stared at her, somehow he seemed very uninterested and it confused Thales. “Yes, he’s back. He was the one who suggested for you to rest here.”

“Oh.” Looking down at her leg, Thales smiled at the thought of Farkas giving up his room for her. He was such a gentleman, such a great friend and probably the only friendly shield-sibling she had besides Aela and Ria.

Grunting, Vilkas started to walk away. “Since you don’t seem to need anything, you should sleep and rest your leg. It’s already inconvenient that both you and I are off the qualified Companions to take up quests.” With a nod, she let Vilkas walk out and closed the door behind him.

Laying back on the bed, her heart wouldn’t stop pounding in her chest. He had touched her and helped her back to her room, and it had felt so magical. His strong arms felt so warm and inviting... And he didn’t look as angry as she thought he might, after learning that he jumped in to prevent more injuries on her.
