Valrei slid along the outer wall of the Ragged Flagon. The few people in there stared openly at her. Her stomach was a tangle of nerves. the thought of seeing Brynjolf again made her anxious. Nothing like a near death experience to make you realize that you actually like the man who drives you crazy with his incessant flirting. She swallowed and stepped into the cistern, Karliah following. They were met immediately by Brynjolf, Vex and Delvin, all with their weapons drawn.

Brynjolf hesitated as she stepped into the dim light from overhead. "Valrei..." His sword lowered slightly. Then his eyes snapped to the dark elf behind her and the blade raised again. "You'd best explain what you're doing here. And with her."

"Please lower your weapons, we just want to talk," Karliah said. After a moment, the three thieves did, and she launched into her story. All the wile Valrei watched Brynjolf out of the corner of her eye. When in Oblivion's name did he get to be so attractive? Broad shoulders, narrow waist, those eyes. He glanced over and caught her staring. Her cheeks burned, but she forced herself to hold his gaze for a long moment. When they went to check the vault, Valrei followed along at the back, taking the opportunity to study a certain redhead's behind. Gods how had she missed how sexy he was? Ste tipped her head to one side and the scar on her throat pulled a little, reminding her to focus on what was going on.

Kill Mercer first, sleep with Brynjolf second.

The thief in question glanced over at her again, his deep green eyes meeting her dark ones.

Screw it, Mercer could wait.

Brynjolf was taking charge, and Valrei had to admit she liked it. He sent Vex and Delvin to stand guard at the Flagon, ordered Karliah to get supplies from the market, and tasked Valrei with breaking into Mercer's house for clues, suggesting she wait until after nightfall. He then began digging through Mercer's old desk. The cistern was empty of anyone except the two of them.

Valrei leaned against the desk and cleared her throat. It was less to get his attention and more to get any lingering hoarseness from her throat, but he looked up anyway. Under his keen eyes, she suddenly wasn't sure what to say. Everything sounded stupid to her ears.

"Everything alright?" he asked.

"Yeah, it's just that, um, there's a few hours until night," she floundered, willing herself to just spit it out.

Brynjolf shifted his weight to one foot, crossing his arms over his chest. He was smirking at her.

"Forget it," she muttered. She would come back after she thought a little more about what to say, and a little less about how his ass looked in his leather armor.

Brynjolf laughed and reached out to grab her arm, moving around the desk at the same time. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her so that her back was against his chest. "I'm not letting you go that easily, lass. Not after I just got you back." His voice was low, his warm breath tickled her ear. She blushed and leaned back into him.

"Didn't you tell me once that there was always room in your bed for me?"
