F!DB/Ghorbash: "Bravery" 10/10

*

Two days later, they were packing.

Endra was strapping herself into her armour once more and pulling her sword out of the rack. Ghorbash tested the weight of his new ebony axe and found he liked it; it was reassuringly heavy. He checked his quiver before strapping it onto his back over his armour.

Endra thanked Lydia when she came down the stairs to find them readying to leave.

“For what are you thanking me, my Thane?”

“For looking after us, of course!” Endra gave her a beaming smile. “I do not know how long we shall be gone but I hope we can return again soon. This is starting to feel like my home more and more.”

Ghorbash wanted to add that he was feeling as though this could be his home too but he kept the thought to himself.

“To where are you headed?” Lydia asked.

“We are off to Riften.” Endra replied cheerfully. “I hear there is a Thieves Guild and I am eager to explore it!”

They opened the door and stepped out into the chill morning air of Whiterun. Lydia stood on the doorstep, her arms crossed. “I have heard many tale of Riften so take care, Thane.”

Endra, as usual, was chipper. “Oh, nonsense Lydia; we can handle it. Besides, I am sure Riften has its good points too.”

“Yes, I am sure.” Lydia paused before adding. “I hear that is where the Temple of Mara is. Many get married there.”

There was a long pause before both Ghorbash and Endra burst out at once,

“Really?”

They looked at each, both embarrassed and amused, before Endra said, “Well, thank you again, Lydia...good day!”

The doors of Whiterun opened and they were off once again.

Another adventure awaited them and Ghorbash felt himself brimming with excitement. Home was all very well and good but to be out of the road once more...that was what he loved.

And he was grateful to have someone to share it with.
