Envied Desires - Part 3b

“Oh, Julianos‘ wisdom! Do you not hear yourself? Argis is my- -”

“Tell me, was he the ‘business’ you had to attend to in Markarth?” His tone was sharp as he cut her off. “Is that why you refused to come back after so long? Why even come back when you have an untainted Nord to fu- -”

It was Avalon who cut Vilkas off this time, only not with words. Instead, she opted to punch him in the jaw as hard as she could, sending his head snapping back in a violent motion. She had enough of his condescending words and would not stand by as he degraded and disregarded her honor - every single insult running through her mind, clouding her judgment. Whether it was because of broken pride or her dragon’s blood, she didn’t know, but it was a satisfying blow none-the-less.

Vilkas wiped his hand over his lip, realizing that he was bleeding. Not heavily, but enough to smear on the back of his ungloved hand. He peered at the Dragonborn, giving her a toothy grin. She noticed that his teeth seemed… longer than usual, his eyes darkening. There was an uneasy tension in the air that caused her knees to buckle. The deer had become the wild cat or the hunter now, rather, became the hungry wolf looking for domination.

Avalon quickly realized that punching the taller, stronger, aggressive, moody, Nord man who still had difficulties controlling his wolf spirit was not her brightest moment, especially considering she could feel her once occupied chair against the back of her calves.
