The Fair and the Dragon 9a/?

The weeks passed and the two women avoided each other. The conversations they did have were brief, familiar, awkward and rather reserved. Erikur seemed to have taken it as a good sign and made almost every move he could to talk to Elisif. Elisif had always been patient with him but in the recent days it seemed that all he talked about was Maren and all her imperfections.

“Erikur.” Elisif said, stoping his constant stream of the flaws of Maren. “I do not wish to hear my Thanes talked about in such derogatory manners, please refrain yourself. She may not be a thane by blood as are you but she has proved herself more than worthy.”

Erikur seemed dumbfounded at Elisif actually saying that out loud to him. The always calm and gentle Elisif had openly pointed out a flaw in him that shamed him for the few people who were listening, Maren included.

Maren almost immediately got up and walked over to Falk, she murmured something to him and then left. Elisif found a mixture of curiosity and jealously grow inside her. What could Falk know that she couldn’t herself?

“Falk.” Elisif beckoned him and he strode over to beside her Throne, “Where has Thane Maren gone?”

“Thane Maren has business to take care of in Markath, she says she’ll be back in about ten days.”

“Ten days? Oh, alright, I’ll give the job to Erikur then…” Elisif said, a small lie to cover her true curiosity.

---

Elisif was about to pull her hair out and Maren wasn’t due back for another two days. Elisif had missed seeing the sassy Nord in her court everyday enough but now there was a dragon attacking Dragon’s Bridge and the Dragonborn was nowhere to be found.

In the back of her mind Elisif had also made note that Erikur hadn’t been so valiant as to put his name forward for the job. He had instead been mysteriously absent from the court during the entire ordeal.

Falk and her had attempted to come up with plan after plan on how to first defend the town yet now they had abandoned that plan and were working on how to get the dragon out. The townsfolk had fled and come to Solitude, most of them had arrived completely unharmed.

“How many couriers have we sent to Maren?” Elisif asked.

“Six by now, yet still no reply.” Falk said slumping into a chair. “What if we called the companions in, and asked aid from the Whiterun guard? They took down a dragon.”

“It’s a possibility, but all the stories say only the Dragonborn can kill a dragon, I don’t want to send anyone into an impossible fight.” They were stuck. They couldn’t send people to their deaths, now there must be another way.

The doors opened and the courier burst into the room. With the dragon situation formalities had been long since abandoned. “The Dragonborn’s left Markarth, someone said she’s on her way to Whiterun and that she had received no messages.”

“Thank you.” Elisif said, the courier left and Elisif slumped into a chair and placed her head on the table. She groaned in frustration and cursed herself for having avoided the Dragonborn. After that lonely night Elisif hadn’t been able to look at the Dragonborn without feeling the guilt... and longing.

“I’ll set the guards on high alert, to be on the look out for a dragon, but I think now is probably time to go to sleep.” Falk said eventually. “If a dragon comes we’ll be able to be defend the city for long enough, we’ve got the best fletcher in all of Skyrim so we’ll have plenty of arrows.”

“A good plan, perhaps if we look at this with fresh eyes we’ll find a solution.” Elisif agreed. The young Jarl stood and made her way to the kitchen to get something to eat.

It appeared the need to eat and sleep diminished once there was a crisis. Her stomach grumbled at her as she sat down at the table. Odar began to fuss around the kitchen madly preparing something for the starved Jarl. As he did Elisif reflected on her time here with Maren, she soon shook her head to free herself from the memory. It was no time to be thinking those types of thoughts.

Odar placed a bowl of stew in front of her and apologised thousands of times for it not being as extravagant as he would have liked it to be but she silenced his worries and ate without complaint.

As the warm soup filled her body her mind became sluggish as the weariness she had been ignoring began to consume her. She felt her eyes droop as she struggled to finish the food her body so desperately craved. She uncorked a bottle of Firebrand Wine and took a large sip.

It burned as it moved down her throat but almost instantly made her feel refreshed. She knew the affect never lasted long, but they would last her long enough. She had never been much of a drinker, the two nights she drank herself into a stupor were the night of her wedding and the night of her late-husband’s death.

Two bottles later and Elisif had finished her meal. She walked back to her room with the wine causing her mind to become foggy. She knew full well it was unwise to drink in a time of such terror yet she did not regret her choice. She closed the door to her room and stripped off as she began to practically crawl her way back towards her bed.
While the affects of the wine still held her need for sleep had become second to nothing. She thought of Maren and began to move her hand to her smalls but fell asleep before she could do anything.

What will happen when the Dragonborn returns? I think you all know.......

A!A, this is brilliant. The one thing I like better than lovely lady sexings is when said sexings are preluded by horrifically awkward situations.

I mean that in a good way in case it comes across weird.

Anyway, yeah. You're awesome A!A!
