(Anonymous) 2014-08-12 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)Now he found himself in the Black-Briar residence in Riften, but for entirely different reasons than he would have liked. Ingun was a beautiful young lady, but not only was she a psycho, she was also the well-guarded daughter of Maven 'The Hagraven' Black-Briar. Also she was into poisons. And potions. And aphrodisiacs and Delvin did not even want to know what else she was using. He just wanted for it it to end.
To his very dread, he found out that Ingun was quite noisy at certain activities which did nothing to soothe his nerves. Please, he thought, please just let it end!
When it did, after what felt like a lifetime, he dragged his hurting body out of her room, praying to all Aedra and Daedra that he would not encounter the very woman who was waiting for him at the front door. Maven stood in front of the broken, aching shadow of a man, radiating full authority. Her arms were crossed and she was not pleased.
“Delvin Mallory, of all the useless...” She was boiling with rage and seemed unable to properly express her anger. Delvin knew he was in more trouble than he could possibly fathom. Where was the guard to arrest him when he actually needed them? Typical for these annoying louts, they were never around when someone required their help.
“Maven,” he began, “it's not what it looks like...” He was unable to continue as the woman shouted at him. “Not what it looks like? Do you think me deaf or stupid, Mallory?” Her face turned red and her upper lip quivered with repressed rage. Her face was torn in an ugly grimace and Delvin couldn't help finding a dozen similarities to a Hagraven. For a moment he almost felt like laughing. Or crying. Or both.
Maven must have seen the tiny traitorous twitch of his lips as he suppressed his emotions and it did nothing to calm her anger.
However, Maven Black-Briar was nothing if not professional, so she took a deep breath in order to calm her nerves and asked the one thing she simply did not understand. “So, how did an old good-for-nothing like you convince my daughter to take you home?”
“I don't know!” Delvin practically screamed, overwhelmed by panic. “She was just walking past me, and I just told Thrynn how Brynjolf made me call Haelga 'lass', and then... Oh no. Please, no!” He did not miss the way Maven's posture changed or how her eyes suddenly began to sparkle. Her face relaxed and she almost looked human for a moment.
“Say that again” she commanded in a hushed voice, sounding almost flustered. Delvin swallowed and prayed for a Dragon to come and burn down the house. However, there was no disobeying the Hagraven.
“....Lass?”
