Re: Humana inspired to nightmare (Until the light takes us) [3/?]

Thongvor dropped his fork.

“What did you just say?!”

“I said that Betrid has been bitten!” answered Thonar nervously.

To his brother’s request, Thongvor had dismissed their servants for the evening. Thonar told him that he had a bad new to announce him, something that no one had to learn.

“B...But... How? How is that possible?” asked Thongvor, anxious. “The Treasury House is the safest house in Markarth!”

“I don’t know!” Thonar said, frantic. “I really don’t have any idea Thongvor!”

The two brothers were stayed silent for a moment, both of them thinking. Thongvor took a sip of his wine.

“We need to find the one who did that, brother.”

Thonar looked at him, surprised.

“Because you were thinking I wasn’t going to kill the bastard who did this? Betrid is my wife! I might hate her, but she’s my wife! She’s one of us! She’s a Silver-Blood!” he exploded. “If I find out that fucking vampire I am going to...”

“Wait, you don’t know who is this vampire?” cut Thongvor.

“And how on Nirn could I know its identity, brother?” he spat, exceeded.

“You don’t really seem to go out of the Treasury quite often little brother...” noted Thongvor, resting on the back of his chair.

“No. My time is precious, I can’t allow myself to waste it at Igmund’s court as you do!” he answered angrily. “There’s no reason for me to interact with vulgar commoners!”

Thongvor snorted.

“Aren’t you interacting with a commoner when you bed your wife?”

“Oh shut up and just tell me what you know Thongvor.”

His brother stood up and walked through the room, picking up things here and there.

“Something really interesting happened the other day at Igmund’s court...” he said, holding a green apple. “An Imperial boy named Taci-”

“Just come to the point, Thongvor!”

“Alright, alright! Well, to sum up, the boy was convinced that the thane of the hold, that ...Mallari is the vampire that feeds on people at night. And he isn’t the only one who thinks that. I heard whispers in our inn.”

“Mallari... I already heard that name somewhere...”

“Indeed. She is thane in every hold, a feared warrior and a very skilled mage, able to take dragons down. I heard that she’s the Archmage of the College and that she disappeared mysteriously for months after joining a mercenary-like group. And...” his fists clenched. “She’s also Legate in the Legion. In fact, she was the one who made the Imperials won the civil war. And she... the bitch took Ulfric’s and Galmar’s head during the siege of Windhelm!” he cried out, breaking the apple in his hand.

“So it’s her...” Thonar answered, pensive. “Does this whore have any supporters in the city?”

“Apart from the Jarl, there’s the owner of the general goods store, Lisbet, a food seller named Hogni Red-Arm and Banning, the dog breeder. Oh, and there’s also that shady redguard silversmith, Endon. Despite the rumours, these ones still seems to support her. But I won’t be surprised if that stinky Thalmor Justiciar was on her side. Both of them are elves, and I saw him prowling around her when she was at court. Doing this... this disgusting thing of them, what they called “courting” in their Isles of my ass. ”

Thonar pursed his lips in anger. He hated elves, like his brother. Especially high elves. This bitch was going to pay. No one harms a Silver-Blood. No one.

“I have an idea.” He said after a moment. “I know how we’re going to bring that elven whore down.”

Deep inside the bowels of stone and silver that ran under the city, the brothers started to plot.
