It was over. She had won. Alduin lay dissolving at her feet, his soul, (so rich, so sweet, singing to her own) entering her body. She felt the familiar rush of memories and thoughts.
Then the epiphany hit, the reality of the situation. She had killed him. Not banished, as the heroes of old had. She had killed a god.
As his thoughts intermingled with her own, Amalyn Telvanni smiled. It was not her usual smile, teasing and full of mirth. This was a smirk, a feral snarling of the lips.

"Dovahkiin Thuri! Dovahkiin Qahnaarin!"
The words, booming and solemn, emerged from Paarthurnaax's mouth. The assembled dragons roared their submission, their oaths. Odahviing approached her, and she could make out what passed for a smirk on his lips.
"So, Dovahkiin, what now? What orders does Alduin's killer have for her dov?"
"I think...I think that I shall see if I can do what Alduin could not."
The crimson dragon seemed surprised.
"You go to all that trouble, only to go ahead and continue his work?"
She laughed, a high, cruel sound.
"Niid, Odahviing. I am not so foolish as to destroy the world. No," here she raised her voice, letting it carry to the swirling dragons above, "No, I shall return the Dov to their past place, as the rulers of Keizaal. Niid, I shall go further then that! I shall give you all of Tamriel itself!"
The dragons roared their approval, and as they growled and snarled their conversation in the skies above Amalyn caught snippets of their words.
"Stronger then Alduin..."
"Ambitious, as a true Dov should be..."
"We shall be kings once more..."
The wizened form of Paarthurnaax swept down.
"Are you sure of this, Dovahkiin? You would betray your own kind, and place us as kings once more? We were -are- not kind rulers."
"Paarthurnaax, I have absorbed Alduin's soul. Even before I was not truly Joor, But now? My head could be severed from my body, and it would perhaps but slow me a few days. Alduin's soul was that of a god, not a dov. It has changed me. I can see from his point of view, and even if I did not? The people of this land have done nothing to show me that they deserve to rule themselves. The Zeymah Kein still wages, even as the world faced destruction all the Bronne cared for was their own fool war."
"Hmmph. Perhaps. You are our Thuri now Dovahkiin, and your plans are certainly ambitious enough to peak our interest. I and my faction will support you."
Odahviing swept forward, bowing his head.
"I have sworn my allegiance to you, Dovahkkin, even before your defeat of the Lein-Naak. If you would have it, I shall serve at your side again."
She smiled, truly and softly.
"I would be glad to have you, Odahviing."
She strode away from the Time-wound, scrambling up the small remaining distance, until she truly stood at the top of the world. Amalyn looked around her, down at the assembled cities of Skyrim, across the peaks where the White-Gold tower gleamed in the far-flung distance.
She took a deep breath, letting Alduin's essence flow through her, strengthening her Voice until she was sure all of Skyrim could hear it, and then she roared .
Self Fill: Dragonborn Ascendant 2/?
Date: 2012-08-07 10:44 pm (UTC)She paused, filling her lungs once more.
"But! I speak now not only as Dragonborn! I am not a merciless Dragon, nor am I a weak mortal, but a mix of the two! I extend four invitations, as four different people! As the Listener, I say to my family this! Think of the death you shall sow at my side! As the Guildmaster, I say to my fellows this! Think of the riches you can amass as we plunder the cities of Tamriel! As the Arch-mage, I say to my students this! Think of the knowledge the dragons hold, of ancient and long lost magics! Finally, as the Harbinger, I say to my Shield-siblings this! Think of the battles that will be fought, of the glory you shall earn in the courts of the Dov! To any who I have extended an invitation to, come to High Hrothgar and speak with me."
Again she paused for breath.
"To all others! Any who ascend the mountain will be burned and eaten, as food for my children! We will deal with you and your war on our time, not yours!"
With that, she descended.
"Paarthurnaax, Odahviing. I go now to High Hrothgar, to deal with the greybeards. Out of respect for you, Paarthurnaax, I shall try not to kill them. The dov may feed as they wish, but tell them to avoid the cities. We must amass more forces before we truly embark on this path."

Over the next eight days, the various factions she had called out to arrived. No-one said much to her, since no one really needed to.
Astrid and the family had arrived first, not hours after her proclamation. Cicero had been as exuberant as ever, Babette had thought the whole thing was the most interesting thing that had happened in years, and Astrid had merely nodded to her and said,
"It is as Sithis wishes."
Next to arrive had been the Thieves Guild, lead by her fellow nightingales. Bryn had simply told her he expected a sizable cut of the loot for the guild as a whole (and for him in particular), and Karliah had requested only that the sepulcher be left alone.
Two days after them, Aela and the twins had shown up. Aela had told her the rest of the companions had declined her offer, most dispersing either to the imperials or to Ulfric.
It was only the fact that Amalyn had cured the three of their curse that brought them here, Vilkas had told her later that day. They felt a loyalty to her that transcended that of nations or factions.
Last to arrive had been the College, and as Amalyn had privately predicted, the reason for this was they had brought along what appeared tobe the entire library of the college. They had appropriated the entire east wing of the compound, while the Guild and the Family had sequestered themselves in the eastern wing. The three companions mostly slept in the main hall, which suited Amayln just fine, as she had begun to notice the cold bothered her less and less, and she found herslef curling up against Odahviing or Paarthurnaxx more and more.
Still there was no words from either Solitude or Windhelm, and so Amalyn settled down to wait. Patience, though rare, was easy for a timeless Dov after all.
