Show No Weakness - Part 17/?

“Clear out a forsworn camp.” Argis nodded and the two left Vlindrel hall.
The walk through the Reach was quiet and void of the general comments Argis would make in an attempt to create conversation. The two walked side by side but there was a fair few steps between them. Amund kept glancing at Argis who was always scanning ahead or to the sides for danger.
There was an awkward feel to the entire situation and Amund wanted to disappear. He desperately wished he had never said anything wanting to travel back in time and fool himself into thinking Argis actually did care.
He opened his mouth to say something, to apologise to make up some excuse about why he acted the way he did but then closed his mouth.
Wouldn’t it be better like this? Now that I know Argis doesn’t harbour the same feelings as me I can move on. But I… I can’t.
Amund couldn’t imagine a world where he didn’t see Argis every day. He didn’t want to wake up to another day without Argis preparing breakfast. His didn’t want his day to be void of watching Argis smile even though the housecarl didn’t intend to, to see his eye sparkle with the joy of adventuring and to just be close by him always.
No, living without his housecarl was not an option anymore. Even during the day, for the short few hours they weren’t together Amund found himself thinking of Argis and only Argis. He didn’t want to admit it but he knew it was true, that he had missed Argis most desperately even though they were not at all far from each other.
