Show No Weakness - Part 19/?

Oh, A!As I am enjoying this
Don't be worried about Argis.
But Vlindrel hall is all and Amund is lonely....
---
Amund walked into the Silver Blood inn and took his regular seat. He was a well-accepted as a regular in the inn ever since he started using it to escape Vlindrel Hall.

His heart would ache every time he saw Argis going along seemingly unaffected by everything while he was suffering so much.

Hroki placed a tankard of mead in front of him along with his regular meal of Venison stew and bread. He picked up his mead and took a long sip before staring into the half empty tankard.

He wanted to forget all the pain and everything about the man he was so in love with. He knew many people drank their sorrows away with unhealthy mead habits or dangerous skooma ones but he couldn't allow himself to do that.

“Hey, Amund.” Jiv said sliding into the stool next to him.

“Oh, Jiv, hey.” Amund replied, half way through his stew. He couldn’t stomach anymore, it wasn’t nearly as good as what Argis could cook.

“You seem down, let me buy you another mead.”

“No, it’s fine, I’m fine.” Amund was nursing his third mead and didn’t want any more. The first night he had five and went home and emotional mess; crying and inconsolable. He was pathetic and he knew it.

“Broken heart got you down, pal?” Jiv casually rested his hand on Amund’s leg in a comforting way, Amund was sure.

“Ah, it’s nothing to be concerned about.” Amund shrugged off.

“We’re Thanes, we have to look out for each other.” Amund gave a small smile and found himself wondering if Argis would have anyone to look out for him; if he needed anyone to look out for him. “You know you’ve come in here for the past few nights ate alone and then leave after a few hours even though you have a housecarl who can cook for you. What’s his name again? Ardus, Arko-”

“Argis.” Amund said simply.

“Yes, good man. I saw him heading over to the guard barracks. Let my housecarl have the day off too, he’d gone up there to see his old friends.” Jiv’s hand crept up Amund’s leg.

“I didn’t give him the day off…” Amund whispered to himself

“Hmm?” Jiv asked with a smile the screamed innocence

“Nothing, nothing.” Amund said quickly.

“You know, I don’t know what happened but I always find that if I’m down I just need that special something to perk me back up again.” Jiv’s hand was resting mid thigh. Amund didn’t even notice his thoughts consumed by Argis. Argis had never gone against him before, why now? “I bet it’s Hroki, isn’t it?”

“What? No.” Amund said with a dead laugh.

“No? Ah no matter, they're probably not good enough for the Dragonborn let alone a Thane.” Jiv squeezed Amund’s thigh lightly. “You know I’ve found the best way to get over a broken heart is to force myself to move on.”

“It’s not that simple.”

“It is, I could… show you, if you wanted.” Amund didn’t even consider the thought and simply retorted with

“Argis would be home.”

“Have you never heard the stories of the Guard Barracks? Believe me that’s a reunion that will last for a long time, if you know what I’m saying.” Amund’s heart dropped at the words and he felt a new heartache.

He had never considered that Argis was involved with another before. It only made sense that someone like him would already be taken. Argis was a man of near perfection, in Amund's eyes at least. He felt sick to the stomach at the thought of Argis with another.

Amund reflected for a moment and he realised that if he ever wanted to feel better he would eventually have to attempt to get over his feelings for Argis. He knew if he continued doing what he was doing now he would never resolve any feelings. He began to think, mead loosening his thought processes a bit. He concluded that clearly Argis was unaffected by everything and he should be willing to move on too. He knocked back the last of his mead and turned to his fellow Thane.

“I don’t want to sound rude but, did you want to come back to Vlindrel Hall with me?” Amund said to Jiv whose hand was rising every so slowly.

“It would be an honour, Dragonborn.” Jiv said with a wink. They paid and got up and left together.

As they walked up the steps to Vlindrel hall the clouds in the sky parted and the silver moon shone magnificently over the city leaving everything with a silver glow.

No, this is pretty much exactly what I expected, which I why I was all "Poor Argis". If Amund is spending time away from the house, it's only a matter of time before he's not spending it alone. I think Jiv's an awful choice, but decision making is not currently their best skills, now is it?
