Like a Bear in a Trap 1/?
Date: 2012-12-11 07:20 pm (UTC)General Tullius, Rikke, Hadvar -all of them, along with countless other soldiers of the Legion.
In hindsight, they should have figured out that something was amiss. Storming Windhelm was too easy. Apart from the clusters of rebels that guarded the few flimsy barricades, they met almost no resistance.
It was only after entering the Palace of the Kings that they realized -too late - that it was a trap. The rebels had been waiting there all along, to block all possible escape routes.
Although they'd fought bravely, the Legion was overwhelmed, and the soldiers did nothing except delay the inevitable. General Tullius and Rikke had been the last to fall.
Legate Cadhla Haldis was the last Legionnaire standing. The petite fiery-haired Breton lifted her greatsword to defend herself from Galmar Stonefist's killing blow when Jarl Ulfric commanded him to spare her.
"It would make for a better song," he'd said.
Those were the last words she remembered hearing before she received a strong blow to the head, and everything faded to black.
Like a Bear in a Trap 2/?
Date: 2012-12-11 07:58 pm (UTC)Cadhla awoke to realize she was in the dungeon of the Windhelm soldiers' barracks. Her hands were bound to the cold stone wall with metal cuffs, and around both her ankles were chains connected to heavy metal weights. A wall of steel bars separated her from the source of the voice.
The voice belonged to none other than Ralof, once a fellow captive in Helgen, and one of Ulfric Stormcloak's men.
"Release me now, rebel scum, or I swear by the Divines, I will shout you all to Oblivion!" she threatened.
"That won't be necessary," the Jarl interrupted as he entered the room.
"Thank you for guarding our guest, Ralof. You may go."
At Jarl Ulfric's command, the rebel left his leader alone with the captive.
"And now, Dragonborn," he said, turning his attention to Cadhla,"I believe we have some business to discuss."
"I will discuss nothing," the Breton warrior spat.
"Oh, but that is where you are wrong," Ulfric said pityingly, "you see, you don't have a choice."
The towering blonde Nord opened the door to Cadhla's cell and locked it behind him. Bound and helpless as she was, the Jarl looked more intimidating than ever.
