"Child of Akatosh" part 2/2

Ballistics

This fire gel stuff, invented by a Breton chemist. She doesn't like it one bit. It's loud, smelly, and has a way of blowing off the limbs of the unwary. It's not a revolution or a paradigm shift or anything fancy like the history books are saying. It's just a faster, cheaper way of killing people.

When the first real large-scale war breaks out on account of the stuff, she's tempted to take the few remaining dragons into the fray and Shout them all into silence. But caution born of centuries of experience has her stay her hand.

Destructive power equivalent to a dozen dragons is unleashed within minutes. When the acrid yellow smoke clears, tens of thousands on either side lie dead. And the last Dragonborn, watching along with one of her oldest friends atop the Throat of the World, merely sighs and returns to her meditation.

Apotheosis

All in all, she's quite pleased with the graceful fade into legend that she engineered after her adventuring days were over. It's kept people from bothering her, by and large, and the few who do know she's still alive are either silent monks or dragons. But there is one element that still grates.

In some areas, her image stands alongside Talos and Akatosh. The dragon trinity, the three-headed god who is male, female, and wyrm all at once. She always feels like she should apologize to Talos and father Akatosh for the misunderstanding...or something. Not in the least because she looks so ridiculous in the stone and glass idols. She's not nearly that well-endowed.

It does get awkward whenever the occasional adrenaline junkie or curious archeologist scales the Throat of the World, carrying fifty pounds of modern climbing equipment, and finds himself face-to-face with a dragon. She is happy to answer questions and spend time with visitors. It's not like anyone will believe them. Hallucinating dragons and legends is now considered a common side-effect of altitude sickness.

Dovah

She awakens every morning to the sound of Odahviing heading out to hunt. Skyrim's grand forests are finally starting to recover from the heavy logging of the previous century, and her dragon's delight at the return of prey is almost palpable. She can hear the sweet call of his Thu'um as she dresses. Over the centuries, they've extended his cave into a sizeable dwelling, painstakingly carved into the mountainside.

Skyrim greets her, clear and cold as always. A thick layer of clouds blocks her view of the lands below. She steps toward the edge of the precipice, her toes kicking pebbles over the edge.

"FEIM ZII GRON!"

She hurtles down through the air, harmlessly passing through cloud and stone alike. Just as she's starting to feel the weight of her body again, Odahviing swoops underneath her, and she catches her fall on his back. He rises toward the Throat of the World once more, a deer caught between his jaws, and she laughs in exhilaration.

There will never be anything in the world quite like a dovah in flight.

Now I'm going to curl up around this fic and purr for a little bit. Oh how I love good worldbuilding.

How do you get these ideas? Such a wonderful look into the future, and so broad with the mentions of fashion and slang and ugh. It was wonderful and honestly made me a little sad until that last bit, brought me right back to smiling. Thanks for the great fill!

Not OP, but thank you so much! This fill is just beautiful.

All the little details, with the Thalmor sneers, and the dovah speech, and the graceful fade into legend, and just everything. The last one is my favourite. The Dovahkiin being immortal (which has been my headcanon for quite a while) never bothered me much because she'll always have her dragons :D
