Hadvar lifted onto the palms of his hands and drove into her as hard and fast as he could, only caring about the expression on her face and the ever tightening grasp of her core around him. She came undone first, and he had to drop back down to cover her mouth with his, swallowing the animal sounds she made and then his as he followed after her, shaking and nearly delirious with release.

He only barely caught himself from collapsing on top of her after, shifting his weight to one elbow but still soft and twitching inside her. They kissed for a few gentle, languid seconds, caught in the afterglow, the shared joy of abandonment.

"Hadvar," she crooned sometime later, a warm and comfortable weight in his arms. It would take him months to realize that was the sweetest utterance he had ever heard.

The girl, Tern, was gone before he woke the next morning.

Oh, gods, Nonny, that was amazing. You've set the bar very high with this fic. I love Tern, trying to take control of her destiny in very strange circumstances without a word of the local language... And Hadvar. HADVAR, you sweet, lovely man, you. Nonny, you got Hadvar's voice perfectly, as far as I'm concerned.

Very nicely done.
