Every once in a while a DB/Dragon fic comes up and I RISE OUT OF THE ASHES SCREECHING LIKE SOME DEMENTED PHOENIX.

I'm sorry nonny, I'm not trying to poke fun at you, but just image of a DB and dragon cuddling and then a random person/actual phoenix popping up out of nowhere and screeching at them....

I think I'm dead from the imagery.

It wasn't even dawn yet when the Dragonborn was roused from sleep by a blood-curdling shriek.

He tried to sit up, but his head met a leathery kind of resistance, and his first thought was that his tent had collapsed during the night. His second thought, after fumbling around as well as remembering bits and pieces of the previous evening, was the realization that the "tent" was actually a dragon wing.

"What in Oblivion was that?" he asked the dragon as soon as he'd crawled out and reached his sword. "Did you see anything?"

"Hrmph", was the response from above. "Very strange. I do not remember joorre having the ability to change into flaming birds."

"What?"

"I'm so sorry!" they heard right then, even further above the height of a crouched dragon's head. The voice seemed to come from the trees. "I just couldn't help it. I saw a man and a dragon together and I SCREECHED AND TURNED INTO A DEMENTED PHOENIX. Now I've changed back, but my clothes got singed and I'm kind of stuck here."

Silence.

"Anyone feel like lending a hand?", the voice continued hopefully. "Or a wing?"

Surely, there is some kind of phoenix-like creature in Elder Scrolls lore?
And surely, that creature could become the mascot of good fill?
Anything self combusting would likely be appropriate.
