Dragonborn/Follower - Conversations/Fluff/Companionship/Friendship/Lovers

I'd love to see some interaction between the Dragonborn and their follower.

Any gender/race DB and any follower that the A!A would like to write about.

They can be in love, best friends, talking about random stuff or about to set off for a new journey. Anything you feel your DB and your follower would speak about or get up to on their adventures.

Multifills are more than welcome!

Argh! I could do like five fills for this in the Rozenn!verse, but I need to finish my current fics!

Seconded! And possibly a fill later, but no guarantees (my muses go into hiding at least once a day)

I too may do a fill for this. I encourage anyone who loves a certain follower to do the same.

Summary: Ghorbash and Endra's first week together was full of one-sided chatter. Neither of them knew that this was the beginning of a lifetime together.

First Of Many

Stay in the stronghold. Ghorbash struck the training dummy before him. Brother has welcomed me home. He could feel sweat starting to trickle down his back. Do not dishonour him. He struck harder, nearly snapping the wood in two. Wanderlust will not give you a good life.

"Do you miss travelling?"

Ghorbash started and turned, his axe still in his large grasp. A human woman stood watching him, a hand shielding her eyes from the midday sun. He had seen her not an hour before talking with his brother. It wasn't uncommon for travellers to enter the stronghold but whenever there was one, it still remained noteworthy. He eyed her before slowly sheathing his axe at his side.

"I do. There's freedom on the road."

"Why don't you come with me?" He blinked but the woman's confidence didn't fade. She was still looking at him with an open smile.

"I could not. It would dishonour the place the chief has made for me."

"Oh." She glanced over to where his brother sat, his bright orange war paint gleaming as he dragged one of his wives onto his lap. "He does not appear to be needing you."

Ghorbash frowned. She was right of course. "No. But - "

"Well then! You can come with me, can you not?" She smiled again and excitement began to thrum in his veins. "I could use some help. I am going on a quest. Lots of action, lots of danger. Enough adventure for you to tell your children about."

He was about to tell her that he couldn't have children, that the stronghold wouldn't allow such a thing when he realised that it wasn't her business. Neither was it something she would likely be interested in. Instead he looked over to his brother before saying,

"Very well, outlander. You have my axe."

She beamed, blue eyes sparkling. "Wonderful! My name is Endra."

He shook her hand and gave her his name, wondering how his brother was going to take the news.

*

The first thing Ghorbash saw her kill was a wolf.

It wasn't impressive but he supposed it was hard to be to impressive when killing something as simple as a wolf. One quick jab to fend it off and then one hard, brutal blow just as he killed the other which had been nipping at his heels. Then she sheathed her sword neatly and bent down to stroke the dead animal led in the dusty road. He frowned and wanted to ask what she was doing but he found he didn't have the voice to do it. She smoothed its head and smiled softly.

"Such beautiful creatures."

He wasn't sure if she said it to herself, to him or even the wolf itself. He had only been travelling with her for a few hours and he wasn't totally convinced of her sanity; so far she had cheerfully spoken with a trio of drunkards trying to get her to drink with them (Ghorbash would have strode past them without a glance) and she had insisted that they stop at the top of every incline to admire the view.

She really was rather...curious.

And now she was moving these dead wolves off the path and placing them amongst the flowers and the grass. She brushed her hands off on her breeches once she was finished and stood back to admire her work. She nodded to herself and flashed him a smile before moving on without another word.

That was the first time - and it certainly wouldn't be the last - that he found himself wondering if he had done the right thing leaving the stronghold and accompanying her on her travels.

On the third day of travelling with her, two major things happened.

The first was that he realised that her constant chatter wasn't a nervous tick, she just spoke a lot.

A lot.

He was waiting for it to really irritate him but he was surprised to find that it didn't. Instead, he just found it odd. She talked about everything: the colour of the sky and how it was ever changing, the weather, the scenery, weapons, flowers...if she saw it or knew of its existence, she would speak of it.

Rarely did he respond and when he did, he spoke briefly and sometimes even just made a noise of agreement. In fact, they had barely spoken properly at all and had not confided in each other about anything. Yet somehow, he felt as though they had held a thousand conversations between them, each detailed and rich. He felt like he knew so much about her while knowing very little.

Oh, and the second thing. The second was that they killed a dragon.

It should have seemed bigger than it was (the fight, not the dragon - the dragon was as humongous as he had expected it to be).

Before he had left, the stronghold spread rumours of a dragonborn and when she had arrived, it was impossible not to notice that the whispers increased in both detail and volume. Still, she had never actually confirmed it; it was apparently one of the few things she did not discuss in great length.

The fight had been fairly straightforward after his initial panic which of course he didn't show. But watching her absorb the dragon's soul had been quite something. She was so small compared to him and he couldn't fathom how a body such as hers could enable her to kill something like a dragon and then take its very soul from it.

Once it was over, she puffed out her cheeks and 'hmm'ed.

"Are you...well?"

His hand hovered a few inches from her back as though he was afraid she'd fall. In actuality, he wasn't sure what to expect. Would she feel worse for a while? Would they need to stop until she regained her strength?

Then she turned to him and her smile was as bright as ever. Relief washed over him.

"Oh, I am fine! The rush of power can sometimes be overwhelming, is all." Then she bent down and began scooping up scales and bones. "Can you carry some of these? I don't have any room in my pack."

He nodded and took them from her, fitting them in easily. When he was finished he saw she was watching his face. He frowned and she flushed.

"Are you...happy to stay with me? Now you know that dragons will be commonplace?"

She hadn't been joking when she said he would have plenty of stories to tell his children. He nodded.

"Oh, good! Now come." She nudged his arm with her shoulder. "I have heard of strange goings on in Markarth I want to explore. Do you know any songs?"

That was the day he stopped seeing her as a peculiar woman and started seeing her as a peculiar woman with a lot of power.

By the end of the first week, he had become accustom to her constant chatter and in the occasional moments in which she fell silent, he found the quiet rather unsettling. Thankfully, those moments were few and far between.

They set up camp under a jagged edge of rock where bandits had once been. The alcove was oddly cosy and the heat from the fire could fill it before surrendering itself to the cold night air. She had insisted on cooking a vegetable stew for them in a small pot and his stomach had begun to growl as the smell of it reached his ridged nose. She filled up two large tankards with it and handed him one along with a fork. He took it with a nod of thanks and was surprised when she sat down next to him on the log, despite there being another just across from him. She was sat so close her shoulder grazed his when she moved to spear more vegetables on her fork.

Eating was one of those few moments where she was quiet and he found himself catching a few glances of her out of the corner of his eye as she stared out over the plains. The fire made her blue eyes sparkle and illuminated her soft face, giving her a flattering glow. A few more glances made him realise - with a start - that he was beginning to find her rather...appealing. Shame instantly gripped him and he pushed the thought out of his mind, not allowing himself to dwell on her. He heard the fork scrape the bottom of her tankard.

"You rest. I will keep watch."

She nodded and stood before resting a warm hand on his large shoulder. He tensed.

"Thank you." She said before making her way to the back of their alcove and slipping inside a bed roll.

He relaxed as much as he could and placed his empty tankard at his feet. He sighed through his nose and retied the leather band that kept his jet black plait tight. Then his eyes searched the plain, checking for threats. He wasn't expecting anything; bandits had previously occupied this area (until they had killed them a mere hour and a half before) so he suspected that people would stay away. He waited for a while before turning quietly and looking at her curled up in her bedroll, her brown hair falling over her face and her chest moving with her steady breathing. He saw the bedroll next to her and resisted the urge to clamber into it and watch her.

He shook himself. It had been quite some time since he had bedded an Orc female and that was the reason for this folly, he was sure.

Endra. Odd name, he thought. He wanted to roll it around in his mouth and test the taste. Instead, he glanced at her again before hunching over and fixing his eyes on the road.

As the cold seeped into his bones, he remembered where she had touched his right shoulder.

It still felt warm.
