It has been broght to my attention that I haven't been addressing the endings of my story as well as I could have. I am trying to rectify this and have written an epilogue for this story. If it doesn't belong here, I am so sorry.

---

Summary: Ulfric has assumed his rightful title as High King of Skyrim, and has taken up shelter in the Blue Palace. Boltraz, having been scorned from her stronghold, is also living in the Blue Palace. Finally, Ulfric works up the nerve to show Boltraz his Amulet of Mara, but something always goes awry when he starts to actually show it to her.

Well, how come you fell in love with him?

.

High King Ulfric watched from the doorway as Boltraz's fingers moved meticulously through her thick hair. In her frustration, her nose crinkled on the end and one corner of her mouth turned upward in a snarl. She had recently committed to wearing her hair longer, but now that it hung in her face, she was getting tired of it. Ulfric had taught her how to braid it as a compromise but Boltraz wasn't used to the concept of fashion.

He looked down at the amulet in his hand and tightened his fingers around it. It was a big step in their relationship, but he felt that they were ready. She had practically won the war for him, and he had tried to reconcile the way he treated her near the end. Boltraz said that she had forgiven him, but sometimes, Ulfric wasn't so sure. This will be the tell-all, he thought, If she says yes, then she really has forgiven me.

Boltraz stood suddenly, and Ulfric hid the amulet in the inside pocket of his robes. As she growled and reached for the dagger, Ulfric's hand caught her wrist. He shook his head solemnly, and smiled at her. Tutting, he reminded her "Practice makes perfect," and she ripped her arm from his hold.

"I'm going crazy." She snarled, throwing herself into the chair once more. Ulfric took her hair in his hands and began the familiar steps of braiding. "I'm not meant to stay cooped-up like this." She turned her head to look out the window and Ulfric moved it back. "I miss the battlefield..."

He hesitated. That was another thing that set him on edge about showing her the amulet. She yearned with all of her heart to return to war while most of Ulfric's men were still having nightmares. Did it not bother her to kill the other men, to see her comrades fall at her feet? But he knew this was just another cultural difference they would have to overcome. Ulfric took a deep breath and reached for the amulet in his pocket, but Boltraz took his hand in hers and turned to stare up at him. Ulfric stilled, it wasn't often he looked down at Boltraz, and he did like to every once in a while. She smiled sadly at him and rubbed the inside of his wrist with her thumb for a moment. Ulfric was dying to know what she was thinking, but when her mouth opened, she quickly closed it and turned back around. Ulfric finished the braid and secured it with a piece of leather. "Boltraz, I-"

The courier ran in breathless and thrust a sealed letter into Boltraz's hands. "It's a letter. Not sure who from. Said he was a friend of yours." Ulfric turned and looked at the courier with a pseudo death glare. The young man turned and began running again.

"Boltraz," She read aloud, "You caused a bit of stir in Solitude when you demonstrated the power of your Thu'um. Not everyone is anxious for the return of the Dragonborn. I for one desire to see you grow and develop your talents. Skyrim needs a true hero these days." Ulfric looked at Boltraz and saw the excitement in her eyes. He'd never seen her receive a letter like this, but it was clear she'd seen them before, and awaited their arrival. "You should turn your attention to Volskygge. I understand it holds a mysterious source of power that can only be unlocked by the Dragonborn. Sincerely, A Friend." Boltraz stood, knocking over the chair and moving quickly across the room to her wardrobe.

She whipped her dress off over her head and replaced it with the layers she wore under her armor. "Wait." Ulfric said as she motioned for him to tie the straps at the sides of her banded Iron Armor. "How do you know this isn't a trap?" He asked, and Boltraz laughed.

"I used to think it was, but not anymore. I've received quite a few of these little guys." She lifted the letter and shook it in Ulfric's face. "Now, I just go. The Words of Power are there, waiting for me. Sometimes, I even hear them calling out to me."

Ulfric pulled a face and began tying her pieces of armor together. "Be back soon, Boltraz." Ulfric said, helping her pack potions and weapons into a knapsack. Boltraz nodded, excitement filling her golden eyes, and ran out the door.

Ulfric stood the chair up and sat down in it, fishing the amulet out of his pocket and staring down at it. The filiment stared back up, mocking him. He tightened his hold on it again and the chain broke. Ulfric cursed and tucked it back into his pocket. He'd have to get it fixed before she returned.

The blacksmith expressed his gratitude when Ulfric handed him the amulet and asked for it to be fixed. "Since the war's ended, I haven't got much work." The man took the jewlery and smiled down at it knowingly. "You gonna propose to Boltraz?"

Ulfric, who had been watching a hawk circle them, looked down out of the corner of his eye at the blacksmith. "Perhaps." He answered, and then added under his breath, "If I could get her alone for once."

The blacksmith snickered and took a pair of small pliers, shaping the new circle of metal to match the others. "Took me half a year to work up the courage to show my amulet to Sera. I'm sure you'll do it soon."

"Hn." Ulfric turned to look back up at the hawk but it was already gone. "It's not courage that's the problem." He looked down at the people moving around on the streets. "I literally can't get her alone."

The blacksmith nodded and dunked the necklace in the water troth. "I just saw her run past a little while ago. I think you missed your window again."

Taking the necklace from the blacksmith, Ulfric sighed heavily. "Yes. She got some letter about a word of power and was off before I could even get a word in myself."

The blacksmith rubbed a speck of dirt off of his grinder and rested his head in his hands. "Are you worried about the children?"

"The children?" Ulfric turned and looked at the blacksmith, confusion apparent on his face. "What do you mean?"

"They'll take after the mother. You'll have four or five orc children running around making a mess." The blacksmith smiled cruelly at Ulfric. "You got yourself in a real mess now."

Ulfric turned and looked solidly at the Blacksmith. "Be careful what you say, Gery." Putting the amulet back in his pocket, Ulfric left the small pavilion and headed back to the Blue Palace.

It was a long two weeks for Ulfric. He hadn't realized how much he relied on Boltraz to keep him company and the Blue Palace was quite empty without her ruckus. Ulfric had broken the amulet's chain in different spots at least four times and took to placing it upon Boltraz's dresser. She might see it before he got the chance to show it to her, but the chance of irreparable damage would be lowered dramatically if he wasn't tempted to hold it.

While Ulfric and Boltraz hadn't necessarily been sleeping in the same bed, Ulfric often woke in the middle of the night to find her . As far as the public was concerned, no, they weren't sleeping in the same bed, but on those nights they did little sleeping. The room felt empty and quiet without her loud snoring or sleep heat radiating off of her, and, ironically, Ulfric was having some difficulty getting to sleep without her there to keep him awake. He had managed to fall asleep that night though. Whether it was exhaustion, or just that he had gotten used to Boltraz's absence he didn't know, Ulfric was just happy to get some sleep.

That night he dreamt Boltraz had come home and was crawling suggestively into his bed. However, she smiled, and it was crooked, something was off. "Sorry." She muttered, pressing a hand to the side of Ulfric's face. "I didn't mean to wake you."

Ulfric stared, he was awake? He was. He sat up quickly and glanced over at her dresser. She hadn't yet seen the amulet, had she? "Boltraz-"

She shushed him and cajoled him into laying back down. She pressed a kiss to his bearded face. "It's been too long."

Still, Ulfric persisted. He sat up and looked at her hard. "How was Volskygge?"

Boltraz sighed, "Eventful." she answered, letting a hand snake underneath his loincloth.

She took hold of his steadily rising member and squeezed lightly. He groaned in the back of his throat and wrapped a hand around her upper arm. "Was there a Word of Power?"

"Ulfric?" Boltraz persuaded him to lay back down and untied his loincloth, her hands roaming his hard body. She came to straddle him and Ulfric realized that she was already naked herself. "You're talking too much."

Ulfric nodded and let his hands find her hips. His fingertips pressed into her wide hips, coaxing her to grind against him. Finally she relented, her warm sex sliding against his own. He moaned and took hold of one of her breasts, pressing his fingertips against her nipples. His other hand trailed down her side and front, it's fingertips dipping into her navel. She sighed and closed her eyes as she directed Ulfric's member into her wet sex. Grinding against him, Ulfric let out a series of moans and grunts that made waves of pleasure roll through her lower half.

Ulfric sat up, realizing that she must be tired after her adventure at Volskygge, and laid her down on her back. He rutted against her, forcing high pitched grunts from her throat, and then slowed down to an agonizing pace. Boltraz keened and arched her back to make her chest meet Ulfric's. "Please." she begged, and Ulfric sped up again. He lowed his hand to her sex and pressed his thumb against her clitoris, rubbing slow circles into it. She cried out as she climaxed, her voice echoing off the stone walls. Ulfric came a second later, breathing heavy against her skin. They lay still for a moment before Ulfric sat up, smiling down at Boltraz, but she was already asleep.

Ulfric rolled off of her and grabbed the pillow from the head of the bed. Gently, he lifted Boltraz's head and pushed the pillow beneath her. Closing his eyes, Ulfric searched for Boltraz's hand, finally finding it and lacing his fingers with hers.

For Ulfric, daylight came too quickly. He groaned and furrowed his eyebrows, feeling as though he drank too much mead the previous night, but as Boltraz hissed somewhere beyond his vision, it all came back to him along with a raging erection. He sat up and squinted against the sunlight, looking for Boltraz. She was sitting in front of the vanity, her braid matted with stray strands flying every which way. She hissed again and Ulfric stood, approaching her. He was ready for another go, but as her reflection came into view, worry replaced his lust. One of her eyes was swollen and black, a bottom tusk was chipped and she was prodding her broken and bleeding nose with a fingertip. "What happened?" He asked, worried, but trying not to sound so. He knew how she felt about healing magik, but surely she'd make an exception for a broken nose.

"It was a dragon priest." She answered. "He was guarding the word wall and I didn't see him until it was too late." She touched her nose, a hiss escaping her mouth again.

Ulfric stood by awkwardly, wanting to help, but not knowing how to approach her. "I thought they mostly used magik." Looking around, he did in fact, see a lot of burnt clothes and charred armor.

"They do. And this one did. Most of the damage came from afterward. I slipped and tumbled halfway down the mountain."

Another hiss and Ulfric's stomach dropped. "By Talos... Did I hurt you last night?"

Boltraz laughed and stood. "No! Not at all. I was watching out for you." She smiled and Ulfric noticed more than a tusk had been chipped. He grimaced. "It was a healthy distraction. Really! I would have waited until morning to find you if I was worried about it." She took Ulfric's hand and lifted it to her mouth kissing the knuckles one-by-one.

They stood like that for a moment, Boltraz's bloodied lips kissing his knuckles, Ulfric's green eyes staring into her golden orbs. "Boltraz." He said finally. "I have something to show you."

She dropped his hand and looked down at her bare feet. "I know." She said quietly. "And I don't want it."

Ulfric stood dumbstruck. It wasn't often that he was at a loss of words but... "Wh- What?"

Boltraz closed her eyes and turned away from him, crossing her arms. "I won't marry you."

Ulfric took a step forward, feeling like a child whose mother was disappointed in him. How was Boltraz able to make him feel things he hadn't felt in the better part of two decades? "Is this because I..." He didn't want to say it. He couldn't. "So, you haven't forgiven me?"

"I have." she whispered, "But that's not why I won't marry you. If I marry you, I'll want things that you won't be able to give me."

Ulfric furrowed his brow, anger rising up from somewhere behind his lungs. "Like what?" He snapped, "I can give you anything you need or wa-"

"Children." She cut him off. "I want children. And not just one. I want three or four of them. Maybe more." Ulfric was feeling numb. Did she think he was infertile? Or was it something else..? "I wouldn't want to do that to you."

"I can give you children." He stated plainly. Part of him felt desperate to keep her, another part felt so very stupid for letting it show like this. "I can give you as many children as you want."

"Don't play coy with me." Boltraz said, her accent growing heavy in her anger. "I know that it's only by some fluke you want to marry me. You wouldn't give any other orsimer a second glance."

"I wouldn't give any other woman a second glance." Their voices were raising, at this rate, the whole court would be able to hear them. "Orc, Elf, Nord, Breton, Redguard, Khajit or Argonian!"

Boltraz turned, rage filling her own eyes. "If you give me all the children I want, it'd be like you were chief of your own stronghold! Do you want that?!"

Ulfric swept the amulet off of the dresser and pressed it to her bare chest over her heart. He saw the grimace of pain and knew he was pressing too hard, but he was trembling like he never had before and didn't know how to control it. "I want anything you want."

Boltraz stared down at him, her gaze cold yet, confused. Gently, she reached up to meet his hands and pried the amulet off of her skin. Ulfric's eyes flickered down and he quickly looked away when he saw that the filament had left an imprint on her skin. "Ulfric, please," Boltraz started, placing her hand on Ulfric's cheek. "I don't want you to... To feel as though you have to do this. You don't."

Ulfric lifted his hand and trapped the amulet between his palm and the back of Boltraz's hand. "I want to. Please. Marry me."

Boltraz sighed and pressed her forehead against Ulfric's. A smile adorning her weary features. "Of course, love."

.

"Mother, one of the other children told us that daddy used to be a bad man, and that he hated orcs."

"He wasn't bad, little warrior, just misguided."

"Well, how come you fell in love with him?"

"Because he's a good man that promised to always take care of me."

"And me!"

"And me!"

"Me too!"
