FAQ And 'Help-Me'

If you want to contact a mod without the loss of anonymity that comes via PM, post your question/request here. Don't be shy!

Want a post deleted? Because of anonymity, we rarely delete fills but will consider deleting prompts if they violate the rules.

Have a question, suggestion or complaint?  This is the place to let us know, unless you'd like to contact us privately. You can also de-anon here, if you care to.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How do I post anonymously?
A: Below the body of your message are two buttons: 'post comment' and 'more options...' Select the 'more options' button and you will be redirected to another page with the ability to preview as well as an option to open a drop down menu from your login name. From there you will have many options, but on the bottom is 'Anonymous'. Select this and it will mark you as anonymous even though you are still logged in. Remember, if you forget, just go back and delete you comment and re-post under anonymous.

Q: My prompt/fill/comment isn't showing up! What's going on?
A: Don't panic! Your post is not gone, just hidden. Sometimes LiveJournal
hides anonymous comments when the commenter is not logged in. Try
logging in or waiting a few hours. Sometimes it even takes a day. Please do not repost your comments without checking with a mod.

Q: When do we have Fill-a-Thon? How long do they last?
A: We have Fill-a-Thon at the start of every month, from the 1st until the 7th: one week. At that time all prompts posted will be deleted and saved to be reposted on the 8th, but this is a stress on the archivers and mods so please remember to save  them for the 8th. We want to encourage
people to fill, instead of just prompt as well as give our archivers a
break!

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been filled?
A: Yes, the more the merrier, plus that makes for an even more pleased OP.

Q: Can I fill a prompt that's already been claimed?
A: Yes, that's also just fine. Claiming is more for the OP's benefit.

Q: Can I post multiple prompts?
A: Go for it - but try to fill as well as prompt.

Q: When does the meme make a new thread for prompts and fills?
A: When the thread hits 20 pages a new one will be made for that particular category.

Q: I'm posting a big fill. How do I avoid the shrinking format problem?
A: Normally this becomes a problem around post 13-15. To solve the skinny paragraphs, just reply consecutively to the original prompt rather than replying to your previous posts one after the other.

Q: It looks like there's a lot of this pairing. Can I post/request more?
A: Of course! If there's already plenty of a certain character/pairing it's because anons want it.

Q: I have this weird pairing/kink/character fetish. Is it too weird for the meme?
A: Only if it's sexually involving someone under 15. Otherwise, go to town.

Q: What I wrote is kind of out-of-character. Is that OK?
A: Yup. All fills are welcomed here, including OOC ones. If the OP
specified in-character though, they might be disappointed. Do your best
and talk with the OP if you're concerned.

Q. Somebody posted something on my fill that hurts my feelings. Is it dumb to ask for it to be taken down?
A. Not at all. PM the mod
and we'll get right to it.

Q: Can I give feedback to the writers/artists?
A: If it's positive, yes. To avoid hurt feelings (and to encourage writers
of all skill levels) we don't post the hard stuff.

Q: My fill (or one I found) is labeled wrong/is missing in the archives. What do I do?
A: Link it here and we'll fix it ASAP.

Q: My prompt never got filled :( When can I repost it?
A: About a month later is fine.

Q: This prompt is months old. Should/Can I fill it?
A: YES! Even if the OP isn't around, other anons will LOVE to read it. You
can also repost the prompt and your fill if you'd like.

Q: Somebody requested a sequel. Where do I post it?
A: Just make a new thread in the main meme and post from there. Don't worry about keeping it with the original prompt.

Q: How do I upload fanart?
A: You can use sites like Comprehensive List of Adult Friendly Image Hosts, Adult Image Host, or File Fap.

Number of saves?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-20 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
What does the "number of saves" mean on Delicious? I thought it was the number of people with Delicious accounts who'd saved a link to a particular story. But there are some very strange numbers attached, like -3?

What seems to happen is that when an existing story gets updated, the number of saves resets somehow. So stories that are popular and get updated frequently seem end up with big negative numbers. It's pretty weird. Do you know why it happens?

Re: Number of saves?

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2012-12-20 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Anon,

Well, Delicious has gone through a few changes (not all good). The saves used to represent how many other delicious users had saved the same link. Now it seems to represent how many times the original uploader (skyrimkinkmeme) has saved that same link - so a fill that is frequently updated will show the -# now. It's not a very reliable system, as sometimes we will use the html link from the parent prompt when we update and sometimes we'll use the html link leading directly to the starting fill.

It does not show how many users are following that link, nor how popular that fill is.
it is an odd feature that I don't think needs to exist, since it's not useful in anyway anymore.

Saying that, a new version of Delicious is in beta mode right now, and when it's approved and implemented the feature may act differently.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion. :)

Is there any chance we could have a new kink tag? kink:threesome ?

In my mind kink:group_sex covers an orgy, four or more people swapping partners and watching each other, rather than only three people all making love together. This is probably up for debate!

Also if you did add this tag, some stories would need to be re-tagged.

Anon,

I have been dabbling with that very idea myself, though it would take awhile to retag all the fills and prompts. Hopefully this is something I can get to today or tomorrow. :)

Series Tag

(Anonymous) 2012-12-28 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi Mods!

First off, thanks for doing such an amazing job with this meme...I think it's the best I've ever seen (ooh rhyme!)

Secondly, could I request a series tag be added to my fills?
Three stories need tagging:

"Love Knows No Prejudice"
"Displaced Pain"
and finally (this one has only just been posted) "Bravery"

The tag is 'series:endra'

Thanks so much! :)

Endra!Anon,

Apologies for the strong delay in adding your tag series. I have just now added it to all three of your fills.

Trigger Warning Needed

(Anonymous) 2013-01-07 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Hi,

I read this because I thought it would be interesting, but actually it was triggery as hell. http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=3916563&#t3916563

I don't know how you can warn for the ending without completely spoiling (spoilering?) it, but it needs SOMETHING.

Thanks.

Re: Trigger Warning Needed

(Anonymous) 2013-01-07 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe Warning: Major Character Death like they have over at Archive Of Our Own?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-09 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry if this is addressed somewhere and I missed it, but is it possible to request specific non-canon characters for a fill? Like, not just a male!thief!Dragonborn, but specifically Dyce?

(I'm not asking whether it'll be filled, obviously that's up to the A!A. I'd just like to know if it's allowed in the first place.)

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2013-01-09 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon,

While the idea of posting a prompt meant for only a specific A!Anon sounds a bit too exclusive, I see no reason you couldn't post your prompt while also wording it in a way that would allow others to fill with their own OCs while also letting that specific A!Anon know you're interested in their character playing a role in a possible fill. I would also like to avoid anyone else using the character "Dyce" as their own when it isn't.

In other words, go for it, but also allow others to respond to your prompt as well.

:)

First off, thanks muchly for putting so much work into modding this meme. I'm really excited for the new prompt session to start, since I just got here. :)

But I do have one problem - would it be possibly for you to add, in the rules, something about trigger warnings in the subject lines? I don't see a lot of them, and while I as a general rule don't get triggered by a lot, I worry that someone who does might stumble across something they really don't need or want to see.

Again, thanks for all your hard work!

[identity profile] skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com 2013-01-18 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon,

I've updated the layout for the Thread, as well as highlighting and underlining trigger rules as the warning itself had been bunched in with tag reminders. Hopefully giving it its own rule will help cut down on Anons forgetting to add them.

Hello, kindly mods! First of all, let me tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to catalogue every single fill and prompt that passes through this kink meme. I would go insane, really.

I just noticed... this prompt seems to have been mistagged as filled, when it really is unfilled. Is it just delicious being weird, or is that a mistake?

http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=4074515&

Anyway, thanks again! I'll go back to reading, prompting and filling.

Anon,

It was either Delicious being it's odd self or one of my Archivers already spotted your comment and fixed the issue. Either way, all seems to be in order. :) Thanks for bringing it up. Also, most of the work lately is all due to the wonderful archivers here at the meme, without them I myself would also go insane.

Hi mods! I've recently dug up an old, incomplete fill of mine and it's a bit disheartening to have the parts separated by someone else's entire fill. I'm not sure if the other A!A's fic shows up like this if the delicious link is followed, but I think it sort of takes away from both stories if you're bombarded with the random chapter of another in between.

Is there any way we can sort these posts according to story?

Thanks a million!

Hey there. As always, thanks for the good job.

Just a heads up. My latest prompt has been marked on delicious as being Mercer/Sapphire, when it's not. There actually is no explicitly shown pairing. Might have something to do with how I forgot to add the char:f!db tag on my little list, sorry about that!

Archivist!Anon here!

(Anonymous) 2013-01-30 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'd like to make a small announcement:

The new Delicious is currently lagging, refusing to show our page to me as well as not adding the links I try to post to it. Therefore, do not be surprised if your prompt or fill appears with a day or two's delay, since currently, it's really arbitrary if the site itself is willing to co-operate with my efforts. I am trying to add more every few hours, to see if the site is fixed, but as long as this problem persist, the updates will be quite irregular.

Thank you.

missing prompt + fill?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a prompt posted on 1-15-2013, (3rd thread, 19th page), and I posted the start to a fill yesterday. Yet today, when I went to check if there was any commentary, the prompt (and my fill) are gone?

I checked the delicious archieve and found the link to my fill, (http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=4095507&) but not to prompt?

So it's missing, but not missing, and curious!anon is curious.

ALSO. I'm on my phone, so is Delicious going through new formatting or something? I can't use tags anymore. They're not visible. (Though I can search by inputting @skyrimkinkmeme #-insert character or kink tag here-)

And since I'm here... (Last question, I promise) do I have to have COMPLETED (started) two stories with the same character before requesting a series tag? Or is it okay if we request one even if he only have one current fill for them, but plan to do more?

illiterate anon is illiterate

(Anonymous) 2013-01-31 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Silly!anon meant to say 1-16-13, not 1-15-13. But yeah. I'm still new to the meme so I don't know exactly all the ins and outs are. (Maybe it was deleted? But then my link would be broken, wouldn't it?)

Thank you~

Missing tags!

[identity profile] baratron.livejournal.com 2013-01-31 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I just looked at kink:pegging and thought "Hmm, I'm sure there should be a Dyce story here...". It's this story (http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=3161363#t3161363). Kink:pegging rather needs to be attached to that story, otherwise someone might read it expecting, er, ordinary heterosexual sex and get a bit of a shock ;)

In fact, that story is also missing the kink:public tag. Both of these were listed by the author after the story :)

Thanks!

(Anonymous) 2013-02-11 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops! I just tried to post a Gallus/Enthir/Karliah prompt that got marked as spam because it had a Youtube link in it. This has even happened to me before when I linked to UESP, but I forgot. Oh well. I don't know if the prompt is waiting in internet purgatory to show up or if LJ ate it up, but if it's gone I can just repost without the link.

Also: I notice that Mirabelle Ervine's tag is still spelled "mirabella_ervine," with an "a."
And this prompt: http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/3603.html?thread=4098323&#t4098323 could use a "race:bosmer" tag.
And this prompt: http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4227206&#t4227206 could stand to lose its "race:bosmer" tag, as neither guy in the prompt is Bosmer.

Please grant me a series tag

(Anonymous) 2013-02-26 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear Mods,
first of all, thank you for your awesome work on the meme.

I'd like to request a series tag for my Serano/Romlyn fills. Tag could simply be "series:serano".

The first fill with them was "Needs", back on the first part of the meme:
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/1639.html?thread=896103#t896103

I'm currently working on a second fill called "Alone" right here:
http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?thread=4410246#t4410246

I have a short third fill with them finished already, but wanted to wait with posting it until I'd gotten a series tag for them all.
Is this acceptable, or do I need more fills to justify a series tag?

Re: Please grant me a series tag

Anon,

Looks like it's been taken care of. When you post your third one we'll add the series tag to that as well. And I think any more than two is more than enough justification for a series tag, but just two is fine as well.

Fill-a-thons?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-09 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I missed something, but I feel like I haven't seen a "we're in fill-a-thon mode" update here for a long time. Does this kink meme still have them?

Also: is there any way to get some more use out of the neglected "Recommend a Fill" thread? Trying a bi-weekly themed front page notice, like "recommend an Orc fill" or "recommend a Mercer fill" or threesome fill or whatever? I dunno, I'm just up for anything that shows all our author anons some more love.

Missing from Delicious?

I can't seem to find this story archived in Delicious: http://skyrimkinkmeme.livejournal.com/2438.html?view=4758662#t4758662

It's not under char:nahkriin since that tag doesn't exist, nor under kink:draugr.

Archivist!Anon

(Anonymous) 2013-03-22 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I checked Delicious, and I can confirm that the fill has indeed been labeled under char:nahkriin. I will be adding a kink:draugr as well.

While archiving, I have come to notice a couple of bugs with the new Delicious, some of which I suspect affect the link's visibility. These are:

1) Sometimes I notice, that tags which have been attached to only few posts don't become visible to the users. I don't know why.

2) While browsing this and other kink memes as a prompter and filler, I have come to notice that the tags have been broken for the past weeks since Delicious was updated. It may be that some of these tags are still broken, but I'm speculating with this.

If there problems persist, I suggest you try using the old layout which can be found here: https://previous.delicious.com/skyrimkinkmeme
I myself have been using this with other kink memes, and I have found that the old layout's tag work just fine.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-26 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi there! I hope this doesn't sound too nitpicky, but I just found this meme by way of the dragon age kinkmeme and happened to notice that you lifted the How To Meme section (as well as other sections) from that meme word-for-word. Myself and a few other people put quite a bit of work into writing those things out, and although they were written anonymously, they were written specifically for that meme. While there's nothing wrong with y'all using the info, it would really be appreciated if you could add some sort of hat-tip acknowledging it was borrowed from the Dragon Age kinkmeme. Proper sourcing is always appreciated. Thanks!

Anon,

Those rules were already there when I took over as mod just when Skyrim came out. I will though add a credit to you guys as I've seen a few telltale signs that it was taken from the dragonagekinkmeme. I had been under the impression that permission was given. I could have been wrong.

Needless to say it will be amended. Thank you for mentioning it.
