ANNOUNCEMENTS: UPDATED 12/16/2017
Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.
I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.
The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! If anyone would be interested in Modding/Archiving, please drop me a line. Thanks! <3
Re: Fire and Potions - Author's Note
Date: 2015-06-04 01:50 am (UTC)I would also like to give a huge shoutout to the anons back on part 7 who said they were reading this, because holy fuck the thought that this might have been quietly wrapped up shortly after the love potion part is fucking terrifying.
Re: Fire and Potions - Author's Note
Date: 2015-06-05 04:19 am (UTC)Sybille as jarl was a surprise to me as well (chuckle). I had to go through the entire court in Solitude and then imagine how it would go down with Elisif dead. And then what Therion would think. Sybille's in-game dialogue about the civil war was so beautifully written, I put it in verbatim. It was perfect.
I love writing Balgruuf. He has a splendid voice. I was driving home from work when his lines to Therion popped in my head, as I had been digesting how to end that scene for awhile. It came out very well, and my husband had the brilliant idea (and dialogue) for Ondolemar to put in his two cents, invisible behind Balgruuf. Which I adored. I wish I could hear your roommate's Balgruuf - it sounds amazing.
'My cousin thinks he's a dragon'. I texted my husband my rough concept of that conversation. He's a good barometer of whether something reads as funny/good. A lot of things I write, get a 'meh' from him on the first 12 passes, lol. But that exchange got a laugh right off the bat. He gave me props for the entire last chapter, so I knew I had done good. I was more amused by Farengar's reply, 'God. He thinks he's a dragon God' and Talamagne's reply to the effect of 'well, he's not wrong/I'm inclined to agree with him'. (Snicker)
For me, personally, here are some of the moments I remember most.
*Cicero. I never imagined writing him would be so thrilling. And my husband's addition about 'the bells as disharmonious as his gaze'... Still gives me chills at how cool it sounds. I loved writing his bit about 'taking Farengar home to meet mother' if he was lying about Therion's whereabouts.
*Therion's personality. When I go back and read chapter one, he is so much darker to me than at the end. Farengar had a very positive effect on him.
*Therion's vanity. I love writing a vain hero. Any chance to point out his ego was a lot of fun.
It lead to one of my favorite lines: "Your humility. That's not something I've missed, if you were curious." Therion, "Please. That was me being humble."
*Farengar pinning Therion at the Solitude inn when he got out of control.
*The moment Therion told Farengar his real name. (Perhaps moments before I die. /enter giant fire about to destroy city/ Thrynn. Thrynn Lor'ellion.)
And susequently, the moment Farengar used it to say 'I love you'.
*Faster than a Khajiit can skin two biscuits. My husband and I laughed at that for a week.
*Ondolemar playing traitor with Melaran. Farengar popping out of invisibility when he hears how Melaran stabbed Therion.
*Ondolemar kissing Talamagne with no explanation. "Never seen him before in my life." Then shortly after revealing he's his husband.
*Therion telling Radac 'Thank Talos for small miracles.' And 'Talos works in mysterious ways'.
*Farengar talking with the God of trials in Sovngarde.
*Therion's deep nostalgia for home as he wanders his bedroom.
And, finally, the sexy bit at the end. My husband praised my skill for writing it. And as he said, 'It's really good. And I don't even like gay sex!' Lol. High praise. Plus the last line of the story. It gets me. I knew it was all over, so it choked me up a bit.
Haha, I guess that was more of a recap than a favs list. Got carried away there!
Thanks for reading and for the high praise.
