ANNOUNCEMENTS: UPDATED 12/16/2017
Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.
I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.
The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! If anyone would be interested in Modding/Archiving, please drop me a line. Thanks! <3
Warpaint!
Date: 2013-05-30 01:13 am (UTC)How about a scene with the Dragonborn teaching their kids the intricacies of face painting?
Basically, I'm trying to expand my headcanons about the the universe, and this would seem really cool!
Possible A!A and Definitely Seconding

Re: OP here
Date: 2013-06-04 11:52 pm (UTC)matches the Stormcloak Cuirass beautifullyreminds me of woad, which a friend who does historic re-enactments tells me really does turn people into berserkers (some kind of hallucinogen in the pigment, I think) because their group of big, tough Vikings won't take on the accountants that re-enact Pictish battles because the Picts wear woad that makes them *NUTS* crazy. So here's my headcanon:The darker the colour of pigment in the warpaint the more unflinching the badass, and the more paint around the eyes/nose/mouth the more intense the warrior clan. And then certain families/tribes have designs of their own (how else to explain different warpaint for each different race?
Also (especially because of the face sculptor) I think that the warpisnt is not permanent, but can be tattooed on if the warrior is especially badassish (e.g. I totally think the Companions got theirs tattooed on because they are tough nuts, (undecided if Vilkas or Aela is the biggest badass of them all) but most bandits probably just paint it on because it's probably fairly expensive)
Also, JSYK going to do a little Rozenn-the-Breton fill for you, just need to figure out what design she'd go for :)
Re: OP here
Date: 2013-06-05 02:31 am (UTC)Love the logic of darker/eyes/face=more badass. I love your Rozenn series as well so I'm looking forward to this fill. :)
However I remember reading that woad is extremely caustic even painting it on incorrectly can cause burns. When used to tattoo the skin- it definitely would burn it.Not good when tattooing sensitive eye areas...so maybe some other plant would be used instead just for tattooing purposes.
Colourwise I also remember that the Romans used to use red warpaint in triumphal parades to mimic the God of War and black would be used to cut down on the glare of the sun- sunlight can reflect off of sweaty cheekbones, causing a distraction at a critical moment. When being charged by an angry dragon or by an enemy warrior, one needs to be totally focused.
P.S. You're totally right about woad being a hallucinogen and in low concentrations it can also be an antiseptic. Handy stuff!
