Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.
I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.
The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! If anyone would be interested in Modding/Archiving, please drop me a line. Thanks! <3

That explained some of the things that had been bothering him, though not all of them. The biggest problem remained, namely that Serano had showed no sign of being interested in adoption.
“Can I come in now? It’s cold.”
Romlyn contemplated his options.
He could take her in, despite his better judgment. If her story turned out to be a lie, which was the most probable outcome, he would have wasted his time and money on some cunning little trickster that would have cheated him at the very least. Maybe she would even steal something. Or try to slit his throat while he slept.
Or he could send her away, though that would probably not go down well. The girl was convinced she belonged here, and wouldn’t budge easily, but he could probably instruct Lydia to force her to leave. That seemed to be the safest bet, since that scenario didn’t involve any immediate repercussions to him.
And yet.
And yet there was this small chance that she was telling the truth.
Romlyn didn’t really know the girl, but he liked what he had seen so far.
She hadn’t appeared to mind having two fathers of a different race. She seemed like a nice girl, even though she had turned defiant when he had insinuated that she was lying; but he couldn’t really hold that against her.
Most likely it wouldn’t take long for him to accept her as his daughter.
He tried to imagine her, himself and Serano living together.
He glanced over to Lydia, but she just wore her typical stoic and expressionless face. The housecarl would not help him come to a decision.
He took a deep breath and made up his mind.
“…Alright. Come in and warm yourself at the fire, …Runa.”
Squealing the girl leapt at him and wrapped her little arms around his neck. He hadn’t seen that reaction coming but still smiled awkwardly as she hugged him.
He really hoped this wasn’t some elaborate trick and Serano wouldn’t rip his head off when he found out that Romlyn had taken a stray girl in during his absence.

A!Anon's note: Sorry I kept you waiting for so long. I hope the long update makes up for that.
Next update should be the last, dealing with the how's and why's and the what-the-hells.

Date: 2013-07-15 08:28 am (UTC)Oh God, this entire pairing is just so terribly dysfunctional but it works. Even if he doesn't know how to do it the 'proper' way, Serano's way of showing Romlyn he cares is just as precious in its' own strange little way.
Eagerly awaiting the next update! =D

The next update will most likely be the last; I want to wrap this whole story up.
I hope I won't have to leave you waiting for that last update for too long.
I'm already done writing most of the ending, but there is one final awkward talk that doesn't seem to want to turn out the way I want it, so I can't say how long it will take...

That last part is getting longer than I anticipated (15 Word pages and still counting), but I can't give you any of that yet without creating a horrible cliffhanger somewhere, so... sorry.
