ANNOUNCEMENTS: UPDATED 12/16/2017

Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.

I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.

The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! Eek! Poor Galmar. In the game it seems so normal (I never gave it a second thought till I had Serana as a follower and the dead guy she resurrected was following us around moaning - shiver), but necromancy would be really, REALLY freaky and traumatic on a battlefield in real life.

Incidentally, that Hwæt made me grin with glee.

It is fairly normal in-game, but I'm playing Oblivion at the same time and that game is so dead set (no pun intended) against necromancy that I figured it would be the kind of thing to freak out someone from such a soldierly background. And it *is* the sort of thing that would bother a culture that puts such high value on valour in war and honours their dead so well as the Nords.

I love Hwæt, myself :) I got so amused by Seamus Heaney translating it to "So" for his version of Beowulf. It's such an Irish way of starting a story.

Well, it's a funny word. It doesn't technically translate to "listen," either.

And yeah, it would sure as hell freak ME out. I spent large chunks of the Dawnguard questline muttering "Falmer are bad enough when they're alive, STOP DOING THAT, woman!" under my breath. And that's in the game. The visceral wrongness of reanimated dead bodies IRL, especially during an already horrific war, would be off the charts. I'm glad he has Rozenn to point out that not all mages are necromancers and not all necromancers are evil, though.

Falmer are bad enough when they're alive, STOP DOING THAT, woman THIS Oh, my Divines, THIS. And she's *on* our side. I shudder to think what it'd be like for soldiers seeing their comrades' bodies turned against them - and then turned into glowing ash piles that they wouldn't be able to bury properly.
