ANNOUNCEMENTS: UPDATED 12/16/2017
Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.
I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.
The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! If anyone would be interested in Modding/Archiving, please drop me a line. Thanks! <3
Alone (M!DB/Romlyn) (38/?)
Date: 2013-09-30 12:21 pm (UTC)His girl sat on a rickety bed where his alchemy table used to stand (he would have to find out where the table had disappeared to - he hadn't seen it anywhere in the main room, either). She hugged her knees close to her chest and stared at the stain on the wall opposite of her. The sound of his heavy Imperial boots on the wooden floor caused her to look up.
He saw it clearly now, that fear in her eyes, the same one she had displayed when she had fled from him earlier. She wasn't crying anymore, but her pupils were still red-rimmed. The look she gave him was unnerving, and he was almost glad when she averted her gaze.
He didn't know how to start such a conversation, wasn't even sure what they should talk about.
"It's me. Calm down, will you?"
He closed the door behind him, but not without looking back at Romlyn one more time. Then he sighed, walked over to his daughter and took a seat at the opposite end of the bed. There was still plenty of space between them, but Runa made a show of retreating even further.
"...Did Braith hurt you?", he continued after a while
"No."
"Good."
"Yes."
Then they fell silent again.
Whatever did you do with children once you had adopted them? How did you talk to them?
His experiences with his own family didn't exactly help.
"Oh, that reminds me", he said for lack of a better idea. "I got you a present."
It was just something he had picked up during his journeys, but that much was true for all of his possessions. He retrieved the golden dagger he wore on his belt and handed it over. Runa reached for it hesitantly, watching the light catch on the blade.
"It's a dragon priest dagger", he explained. When the girl didn't say anything he continued: "Long ago, humans used to worship dragons as gods. The dragon priests used daggers like this one to disembowel women and children chosen as ritual sacrifices. I found this one on the living corpse of one of those priests in an old Nord barrow. They are extremely rare; no blacksmith I have ever met has been able to reproduce them."
The dagger itself was nothing special; there were more durable, more expensive ones out there, but it was the only item he carried that might interest a child. Besides, the thought that the daughter of the Dragonborn wielded a dragon priest dagger pleased him somehow.
"Those blades weren't created to be used in real combat, but if you wield it like this" - he demonstrated it with his own Blade of Sacrifice - "you can use the blade's unique shape to your advantage. If you're still worried about Braith I can teach you the best way to sever a person's tendons with this."
He waited for Runa's reaction. He was starting to suspect that she didn't like his generous present, until she finally spoke up.
"My other papa said he wouldn't give me a weapon before my fourteenth birthday."
Serano snorted at that ridiculous notion. "Romlyn said that? Don't worry, I'll talk to him about it."
Runa shook her head. "I meant my real papa."
That caught him off guard. He didn't know how that admission should make him feel.
"Do you miss your parents?"
It sounded like the most reasonable interpretation.
