THALES ~ 10
(Anonymous) 2014-01-14 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)It was odd, the feeling of your head wanting to explode as his brain pounded inside like a drum. He opened his eyes with slow flutter of eyelashes, and when all he saw was blackness, Vilkas immediately sat up and rubbed at them furiously.
“Stop that!” Someone shouted from somewhere far, but clearly in the same room. “If you wish to truly lose your sight, by all means continue.” And Vilkas’ pounding brain immediately recognized the accent.
With a scowl, the Companion touched around and noticed he was currently sitting on a bed. “What did you do to me?” There was no hostility in his tone, but he wasn’t going to go around letting the annoying redhead think he’s okay with being blinded and in the same room as him.
Scoffing, the thief moved around and when he spoke, Vilkas knew he had moved closer. “I didn’t need to do anything, you did this to yourself all on your own.” He felt fingers grab at a bandage on his neck and instantly flinched back, but then relaxed when nothing else happened. “You ran into poisoned spikes. The blindness itself will fade in a couple of hours, but your body will remain weak until the poison runs out of your system.”
Vilkas didn’t say anything and let the thief work on his bandages around his neck. Then his fingers moved to bandages on his shoulder as well. The time passed with both not uttering a single word until the raven-haired man couldn’t keep his curiosity down.
“How come you’re tending to my wounds. I would think you’d want me to drop dead more than anything.”
The fingers working on his shoulder paused for a brief moment before continuing, then the redhead chuckled softly by his ear. “You are correct, lad. But as much as I would find it satisfying for you to drop dead, Thales would kill me right after knowing I let it happen. I don’t know about you,” the thief patted his injured shoulder, making him wince, “but I would not want to be the target of her ferocious temper.”
Vilkas felt weak, his body ached, and at this point he honestly didn’t care about anything, so instead of scowling as he usually does, he laughed at the words of the other man.
“I’m also surprised you can laugh.” The redhead laughed at his own joke and Vilkas smiled without knowing whether the thief was looking at him or not.
“I’m one of the best warriors the Companions have right now, yet I was so—” desperate to find Thales, he though, “sick of this place, I didn’t see the ball of spikes in front of me.”
“Yeah, well, unfortunately for me you’re stuck here until your vision is back. You think I’m joking when I say Thales would kill me if anything happens to you here.” Vilkas laughed at his comment, and shook his head gently, trying not to aggravate his headache.
“Aye, I don’t disagree with you at all. That woman is a little crazy.”
"Crazy is a big understatement." They fell into more comfortable silence, neither knowing what to say without insulting each other.
Once the other man was done with the bandages, he offered a drink or food, but Vilkas declined due to a weird ache in his stomach. He’s never been poisoned before in his life, at least not this way. He’s fought frostbites, and the poison on those is hurtful, but not this dangerous.
THALES ~ 10b
(Anonymous) 2014-01-14 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)“Wasn’t so difficult,” Vilkas lied, “besides, I’m in a hurry. I need to speak with Thales as soon as possible.”
“Well, like I said lad, she’s not here. And I can’t tell you where she, at least not unless she allows me to. And if I remember correctly, you made it clear she was not to see you again.”
The Companion didn’t respond, fighting with himself internally whether he should tell the thief the real reason behind his quest to find Thales.
“That’s none of your concern—”
“I beg to differ. Anything regarding my Guild Master is very much my concern.”
“Guild Master?” The confusion was apparent in his tone. He knows Thales has been keeping plenty of secrets from him, he can feel it. “Since when is she your Guild Master?”
Vilkas could hear soft shuffling of feet, almost as if the thief were pacing and wondering whether he should answer the question or not. It made his stomach sink with worry. The reason Thales didn’t accept the position as Harbinger had been these people, the redhead specifically. And as much as he was blinded by fury from her rejection, it was planting in him a seed of sadness to know she had been more involved in the thievery than she let on.
“Months.”
The urge to scream at him surged from within, but it went away as fast as it came. He wants to ask why would they let a nineteen year old lead an organization, what kind of dangerous things has she been through to manage it, but he can’t. And he won’t under the pretense of not being a hypocrite.
This man was being more honest with him than Thales herself has been for the whole time they’ve known each other.
Inside Vilkas' hazy thoughts, there didn't seem to be another option other than to be just as honest with the man.
~
This is a short chapter, but incredibly meaningful to the plot lines of Thales' relationship with Vilkas. :) Sorry for the long wait! Next time I'll have for you guys a picture of Thales so y'all can see her for the first time! AND Next chapter is the awaited meeting between Thales and Ulfric. See you then! :)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-21 08:15 am (UTC)(link)THALES ~ 11
(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)There aren’t many people Thales has ever wanted to meet again. In fact, the few people she likes enough to actually keep contact with could be counted with the fingers on her hands. One of them being the handsome and tall blond standing in front of her with a wide, toothy smile. Ralof had helped her the day they were going to be beheaded along with Ulfric, and seeing him healthy, tall and strong made her heart flutter in happiness. He was, after all, a very beautiful person inside and out.
“I still can’t believe you want to join us. I remember you getting upset at me for even suggesting it to you.” Ralof was standing in front of them by a desk inside a private room at the back of the Palace of the Kings.
“Well, I can certainly tell you that a lot has happened since I last saw you. Let’s just say most of those things have made me change my mind about a lot of things. But a captain? Geez, Ralof, you moved up fast.” Thales smiled back at him while they waited for him to write some information from them in a book that sat amongst others alike.
“Yeah, Ulfric promoted me as soon as I came back from Riverwood. I think you can imagine why.”
“He helped me and other soldiers escape Helgen during a dragon attack when I first came to Skyrim.” Thales turned to Sapphire and then pointed at Ralof. “It was brutal but this brave man was able to keep his head cool the whole time.”
“Child’s play.” Ralof winked at them and then handed them a piece of paper each. Sapphire stared at the blond a little longer than necessary before both started doing what they were asked to do. They had to write some personal information on it regarding their physical bodies, in case they die in battle and have to be recognize.
“Is Ulfric here?” The redhead casually asked, giving back the pieces of paper to the blond before smiling up at him again. She was hoping with all her being at this point.
“He is. We just came back from a camp two days ago.”
“Ah, while you were in jai—”
“Could I speak with him?” Thales interrupted her friend and sent her a cautionary look. There was a possibility that this could all crash and burn if they found out about her being framed for murder here in this city. Not because of the murder itself, but because she was an Imperial.
THALES ~ 11b
(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)Thales nodded with her head and her heart started to beat fast. This was exhilarating, all the days she’s been following the path Mara set her on have been arduous, but at the moment it almost seems to be worth it. For a second it became hard to swallow and the redhead started to feel her eyes prickling with tears.
“Thales?” Sapphire asked from her side, placing a warm hand on her shoulder and rubbing it softly.
“I don’t know what’s happening,” The Imperial raised her hands to rub her eyes and frowned at her internal turmoil, “I don’t even know if he’ll talk to me or not. Somehow, an overwhelming feeling came over me.”
“Why is talking to Ulfric important? Does he know who your father is?” Her friend tilted her head and crossed her arms across her chest as both waited for the blond to return.
“Yes. Or so I think.”
“What are you going to do once you find him?” Sapphire spoke after a minute of silence. The shorter woman lowered her head and wrapped her hands around her stomach defensively.
When she was younger, she always dreamt of having her parents, that’s a fact. Now that she’s an adult going on her twentieth winter, it was difficult to adjust her desires. Her whole life has always been about wanting hugs and kisses, maybe the unconditional love everyone always seems to rely on. But now that she’s no longer a child, it was hard to fathom exactly what her actions are going to be is she able to find her father alive.
“Catch up?” The joke fell flat, but her friend smiled anyway.
Shrugging at the question, before her friend could ask more, both looked up when they heard Ralof open the door with a looming body behind him. Thales felt herself unable to breathe once more when her green eyes locked with the green eyes of Ulfric Stormcloak. At that moment she was aware enough of her own body, noticing the slight trembling of her fingers and the chill of the room they were in despite the fire crackling behind them.
THALES ~ 11c
(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)“Yes, not everyone can say they made it out of Helgen.” The sound of Ulfric’s baritone voice brought back memories of the day Alduin, in lack of better words, saved them from being beheaded. Once Ralof helped her off the block, Thales remembers running behind him and Ulfric into the tower where they were able to gather their sanity for just a minute and think of a way to escape.
Ulfric had been barking orders at his soldiers, his stance had been tense but he stood his ground as if a dragon attacked every day and he was so used to it. In a sense it had amazed her, to see such big and strong looking man expel such levels of confidence. That’s most likely the reason him and Tullius are still alive and fighting each other. Both men are incredible, powerful, and somehow find ease at convincing people to fight for them or alongside them.
“Sir, I...” The Imperial didn’t know what to say. Thales has always been someone to jump in on anything without thinking much ahead, to Brynjolf’s and Vilkas’ chagrin, and this was nothing different. “I hope I’m of much use to your men.”
Sapphire arched an eyebrow at her words and Ralof was trying not to smile at her red face.
The Stormcloak leader didn’t say anything, instead he stared into her eyes and then looked at her face intently. The redhead was starting to feel uncomfortable under such heavy gaze, she was used to people looking her up and down whenever their business involved the use of weapons in general. Yes, she was Imperial and she was shorter than Nords, but that didn’t imply she was a bad warrior. Maybe that’s what he was thinking now.
“I see. What’s your full name?” Breaking the tense silence, the tallest of the men in the room narrowed his eyes and kept staring, intimidating Thales into spilling the truth. Not that there was any to spill, since she isn’t aware of her full name.
And then the stories she heard about Ulfric from the Greybeards came back to her like ice cold water.
Could it be, had Arngeir been right? Thales was painfully aware of how fast her heart was beating in her chest. This is not what she imagined, how she imagined it. The imperial needed time to process this whole situation.
“Sir, I don’t have a full name.” It wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s an expert at reading people’s expressions or body language, but she tried her best to look confident. As confident as she could be at a moment like this.
THALES ~ 11d
(Anonymous) 2014-01-23 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)Ulfric’s sight lingered on her face before he tilted his head back and walked out of the room.
Her heart was still beating, louder, harder, and faster. She knows now. And somehow, the painful realization that he’s just as aware made her stomach jump. He knows, he has too, Ulfric must have recognized her face.
This changes everything.
She could hear Ralof talking to Sapphire about a crown they need to collect to get the approval of Galmar, that way they can be sworn in and wear the uniform. But she wasn’t listening, her mind is long stuck on the moment she saw realization in his eyes and still nothing was said.
“Thales?” Ralof’s calm voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and if she didn’t bolt out of the room, out of the palace, she was going to embarrass herself in front of her friends.
“I’ll be right back, please stay here.” Her voice broke at the middle of the sentence, but she was walking away from them so there was a possibility they didn’t notice. Thales made her way out of the palace and without thinking ran into a passageway to the left of the courtyard, her breathing getting heavier and shorter.
This was it. The end of her road, the finish line to her lifelong quest, so why wasn’t she happy? She could run up to his private quarters and demand answers, or hugs. Because he knows and still nothing was said. Would she have become the Dragonborn if she had never embarked in the voyage? Her hands supported her weight against a damp, cold wall, and her body stopped trembling.
Her emotions were all jumbled up in a ball, stuck somewhere in her chest. It physically hurts her, to think back to minutes ago when she was standing in front of Ulfric. She could go in and demand everything and anything from him, throw tantrums and yell and cry and laugh, and she wants to, but she’s not a child anymore.

First of all, I want to thank everyone that reviews, I just can't express how amazing you all are! Second! I want to apologize to anyone expecting a super!dramatic first encounter. I'm trying to keep things leveled with Thales (don't get me wrong, there WILL BE CRAZY!DRAMA) since she's a very young person entrusted with sooo many responsibilities without asking for them. So for the sake of good character/relationship development, I decided to go with a mild first encounter. DO NOT FRET, I do expect to make you cry ;)
Also, as I promised, here's a picture of Thales. If you wish to see it just remove the * (stars):

(Anonymous) 2014-01-31 09:06 am (UTC)(link)THALES ~ 12
(Anonymous) 2014-03-03 04:20 am (UTC)(link)Thales remembers the first time she got burnt by the fiery breath of a dragon, the disgusting smell of burnt skin—thankfully that had not been her own, but she had to buy a new set of pants after that fight.
She still couldn’t believe it.
It took her three weeks to reach the Greybeards, to seek them out because according to everyone around her, it was them who held all the answers. Ironically enough, by the time she walked down the seven thousand steps back to civilization, her mind had been overwhelmed by even more questions. The trembling of her fingers, the awkward sensation of the world around her being there but not really.
What no one knows is that she sat on the last step of the mountain for many, many hours, trying to tell herself that she wasn’t going crazy. She had pinched her arms and legs countless of times, but nothing woke her up. Thales recalls an inner debate on whether she should try the shouting just to make sure—to see that this was real. But she didn’t, shaky, afraid.
She also remembers arriving at Jorrvaskr with dried tear tracks on her cheeks and chapped lips from the blizzard that accompanied her half the trip back. The sight of Vilkas sitting by the fire reading a book had never been so welcoming. There was not another thing she wanted more than to run up to him, grab his arms and wrap them around herself as she cries her heart out to him. But she didn’t try, she didn’t dare. Living in Jorrvaskr had been a changing point in her life, if one doesn’t count the pressure she experienced when the topic of lycanthropy came up, or Kodlak’s death weighting her and Aela’s mind every night for a long time.
Like the first time she got almost cooked by a dragon’s fire, her life in Jorrvaskr seemed unreal.
But nothing beats the musky smell of sweat and fresh linen Vilkas’ presence would emit. The knowledge that despite her attempts at building a fort around herself, nothing stopped him from climbing in. Thales always wonders why she can’t bring herself to tell everything to Vilkas. Why is Brynjolf an exemption? Serana? Why, despite the scary power she holds at the tip of her tongue—literally—she can’t man up and bare her soul to him.
Maybe she’ll never know. Or maybe she will.
The crown sat heavy on the sack hanging from her shoulder as she stood inside Ulfric’s home. House, castle, whatever. Her legs ached terribly, there were definitely a couple of ribs cracked, a muscle was being pinched at her waist, and overall everything hurt so much she wanted to laugh, but couldn’t from fear of making her body hurt more.
This wasn’t the first time she felt like this. Not even close, in fact, this is the best outcome from an encounter with the opposing side in the civil war. Not that she’s fought with Imperial’s before, but out of the mess her life is, this wasn’t the worst she’s felt physically.
Her green eyes moved from the closed door in front of her to the man standing at her side. Ralof has seen better days for sure. His face was dirty with grime and sweat, his hair was terrible, and the limp on his leg seems very suspicious. At least they didn’t encounter Hadvar out there. That would’ve made for one awkward reunion.
“Have you spoken with…?” She tried to keep her facial expressions to a minimum, not wanting to make the man uncomfortable with the question. But her curiosity was killing her.
“With…” His clear blue eyes squinted as he stood there trying to figure out what she was talking about. She pulled on the crown sitting inside the sack, and his eyes widened in surprise.
He’s always been expressive, since the first moment they met. Always giving out this air of jovial wonder, naivety even, despite him being much older and wiser than her. Ralof probably doesn’t realize it, but his facial expressions give him away all the time.
“No.” Thales understood what his tone was hinting at (he doesn’t want to talk about it), but she ignored it completely and huffed in annoyance.
“Not even a letter?” She knows she’s being a fool for sounding wishful. But the idea of two people that love each other dearly yet never reconcile makes her stomach hurt.
“Not even a letter.” Ralof looked off to the side, his eyes glazing as he went deep in thought. “It doesn’t mean I haven’t tried to reach him somehow.”
THALES ~ 12b
(Anonymous) 2014-03-03 04:22 am (UTC)(link)She had expected for Ulfric to meet them. To meet her, with his precious crown on her hands. But he didn’t and she wasn’t surprised. At this point, she’s past being surprised by anything really, why she expects to be is beyond her.
How silly of her, to want to feel human, normal. A daughter.
~
“You’ve been silent. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I miss you making fun of my fighting.” Sapphire spoke as she bit into an apple, Ralof smiled behind the cup against his lips.
“Yes? Sorry about that. It’s a side effect from training with the Companions.”
Sapphire rolled her eyes but reached out to her nonetheless, her fingers squeezing her shoulder gently. “I will regret this, but I’m here if you want to talk.”
Shaking her head, Thales turned her body towards her friend and raised an eyebrow at her. “How comforting, you’re an exemplary friend, the best out there I tell you.” The sarcasm didn’t go unnoticed as Ralof chuckled from the other side.
“Not even battered from a deadly fight do the two of you stop bickering.”
“What can I say, that’s how I express my love to others—”
“Divines, stop that! Next time we’re back home, you’ll be braiding Vex’s hair and singing lullabies.”
The thought made both women laugh, albeit Thale’s was more wheezing than anything else. Someone should tend to her ribs soon.
“Is this before or after she feeds me to the rabious wildlife around the city?” Ralof shook his head at the question and proceeded to finish his meal.
“Shut your mouth. You know she’s just jealous of the attention Brynjolf bathes you with. If it weren’t for Brynjolf, you and the cranky-pants bitch would be riding off into the sunset, running idiots over with your horse and breaking hearts along the way.”
“What?” The blond pipped in, almost choking on the bread he was chewing.
“Don’t mind her. I know what she’s talking about yet I’m very much confused.”
Both stared at each other before turning to the older woman, but then moved their sight towards the other side of the room, where Sapphire was staring intently at.
Oh.
Vilkas, Farkas and Brynjolf were standing in all their Nord glory, snowed on and not even shivering from the flakes on their hair. They all shrugged their light coats and piled them on the chair by the stairs of the inn before walking towards them.
She was not prepared for this. The uncontrollable feeling of wanting to leap to his arms and breath in his presence. Their eyes met, her heart skipped a beat, but she wonders if it’s because he might still be mad at her, or because he’s here. He came here, for her, maybe.
“Hello,” Brynjolf as charming as ever got closer first, placing each hand on top of her and Sapphire’s head, messing their slightly damp hair (thank the Divines they took a bath before eating) “care to introduce us all, Thales?”
Clearing her throat, she sweeped her eyes at everyone and started pointing fingers and calling names. The silence that followed the introductions almost turned awkward if it hadn’t been for Brynjolf’s easygoing personality. The newly arrived men grabbed chairs and joined them with dinner, and as they were all sitting, the redhead caught her eyes with his and then winked at her.
THALES ~ 12c
(Anonymous) 2014-03-03 04:23 am (UTC)(link)Sapphire, Ralof and Farkas were starting to get deep into whatever conversation they were having, so Thales took the opportunity to push her chair back and mumble that she needed to relieve herself. Instead of walking towards the private room, she decided to go down the stairs and hide in her and Sapphire’s room. She didn’t noticed Vilkas was following her until she reached for the knob of the door.
Before she could say anything to him, she felt him get closer then his hand touch her back. “You’re injured.” Not a question, and she wasn’t surprised at his deducting skills. They have, after all, battled alongside and tended to each other’s wounds many times. Or at least the times he would allow her to.
Not knowing what to say, she replied “I just want to rest, Vilkas. I’m tired.”
Silence followed as she opened the door and walked towards the nice and comfortable bed. The door was left open purposely; not knowing how to act around him didn’t mean she didn’t want him around. It’s stupid, this silly adoration for him will get her hurt—no, killed. It already hurt her.
“I just want to talk.” He does. Of course he does. He might not know exactly what he’s going to say to her but will tell her, unlike her who knows exactly what she should say to him but won’t. “I miss you.” He breathes.
Divines, why is he doing this to her? It’s not fair.
Her lip trembled a little as she stood by the bed with her back to him. She heard the door click shut, but he didn’t move from where he was. “I miss you too.” His strong arms wrap around her torso as if he had been waiting for her answer. He probably had. Sweet Vilkas, always cautious with his actions.
“I’m here for you.” He rested his chin on the top of her head and sighed.
So Brynjolf took it upon his hands to explain to Vilkas what the hell she was doing here. Good, one thing she won’t have to explain. But her stomach still sunk at the thought of everything else she does. Closing her eyes, Thales decided to push that back for a minute and instead relish in the feeling of his strong arms. She frowned.
“Take your damn armor off if you’re going to hug me.”
With a chuckle, he (reluctantly) let go of her to remove said armor, putting it against the wall before returning to their previous position. This time her facing him. “Does this mean you forgive me for being such an idiot?”
“Depends on which time you’re talking about.”
“I see your sense of humour hasn’t left you.” No, but he did, he left her. But there’s no point in bringing that up, he has always been forgiven.
“I never held it against you, Vilkas.” She loves saying his name.
“Thank you.” He lowered his head slightly in order to kiss her forehead, then her temple, then her ear.
As warm and loving as this is, Thales knows soon enough she will have to face her mistake of keeping everything in and be honest with him.
~
A lovely reunion, next chapter will be filled with confusion and feelings and also confusing feelings. See you guys then! And thank you to the lovely reviews! ♥

(Anonymous) 2014-05-01 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)There was no way to start this conversation. There was absolutely no path she can take to keep Vilkas from losing his head over what she was about to say. Her eyes were trying to stare at anything but him, and it was hard because he looked exceptionally adorable today. His stubble, the silly smile adorning his face—it made Thales want to hug him and never let him go. Which was the most ridiculous notion, the man was almost twice her age. Still, there is a deep desire for Vilkas to take her words as encouragement for how amazing a teacher he is instead of the many blatant lies she’s been telling him for months.
How does one start this conversation?
A rough but warm hand grabbed hers and squeezed it reassuringly, encouraging. “Take your time.”
So patient, so perfect. He deserved better than her.
Both were currently sitting on the edge of Sapphire’s bed. Her own had a collection of weapons awaiting to be traded for gold.
Somehow, sitting wasn’t good enough, so the redhead sprung off the mattress and walked in a circle before facing him once again. The slight frown made her nervous and then it made her realize that her own nervousness was making her seem suspicious. Which is something she didn’t want to appear as, that would just make him frown more and then things will spiral out of control like they usually do. Because nothing in her life is easy, can be easy, will ever be easy.
“I…” A nervous laugh escaped her and she started to scratch her neck anxiously. It was now or never. “I honestly don’t know how to tell you this.”
“With words.” There was no humour in his tone, only a serious demeanor and complete attention on her.
Divines, she’s faced monsters that only existed in legends! Travel down moldy, disgusting crypts and gone far beyond anyone’s imagination with Serana. There’s no way she’s unable to face this. Shaking her head, her body tensed up as if it were bracing for battle and looked straight into the beautiful, silver eyes. Somehow this felt like battle as all the happy events in her life flashed before her. Her stomach jumped to the realization that many involved Vilkas.
“I am the Dragonborn.”
A single blink was the man’s reaction. Thales could almost see the memories rushing through his mind, figuring things out, putting the pieces together ever since the day she walked in from absorbing her first dragon soul. The moment she started lying to him, creating this made up life in order to avoid scaring him away, but instead- no point in going there. It’s all over, for the better or for the worst.
After a couple of minutes of silence, she wasn’t sure whether she should continue explaining or wait for him to say something. He just sat there, staring at her intently. Probably wondering when he allowed himself to get close to a liar. Or when he allowed her to get close to him.
“Not long ago,” he spoke and she snapped her head in attention, “I asked you to help me be free of my lycanthropy-my curse, and I did it because I trust you.”
Their eyes were locked on each others, and so far his face doesn’t show anything. No sign of displeasure, no sign of disappointment. It was odd, because Vilkas is a man that doesn’t fear expressing how he feels. One can easily tell how he feels by looking at his face, except now.
The “I know,” from her was ignored by the Nord as he continued to speak.
“I have never trusted anyone like I trust you. I can safely say that if I know there is someone that will always have my back, besides my brother, it would be you. Which is odd because we haven’t known each other for long. Granted, the life of people like us doesn’t usually reach as long as it has. I’m a warrior, I’m a mercenary. I can leave for a job any day and never return. When we first met, you did not appeal to me, but I knew there was something different in you than say, Aela. Thus our bond began to grow into something more than just a teacher and his underling.”

(Anonymous) 2014-05-01 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)“When the thief revealed to me you were the Guildmaster to their organization, I felt like I could rip his head off. But I didn’t, because I realized he was trying to brace me to something more than just letting me in on a secret. Is this what that was?”
“Yes.” She spoke before thinking. “Maybe. Brynjolf does things and sometimes I don’t know why. He’s a brilliant man. He also seems to have appointed himself as my older brother.”
“Very well. Is there anything else you would like me to know?” He didn’t ask if there was anything he ‘needed’ to know. The conversation was still bizarre and floating in the air, more or less.
“I might be Ulfric’s daughter.” Tact wasn’t her forte. But he knows that, and the worst that could’ve happened didn’t.
Nodding, the man looked up to her and smiled softly. He stretched his hand towards her and her body immediately relaxed. She did it, she didn’t screw this up. Or better yet, the circumstances didn’t screw it up.
When his warm hand wrapped around hers, she was immediately engulfed in his strong and long awaited embrace. She felt as if she was truly embracing, instead of constantly wondering if the closeness of their bodies would reveal her lies to him. It was an exhillarating feeling, like the one she got when she absorbed two souls at once.
She felt like flying.
“So this might be the end to your journey,” he breathed into her hair, sending a shiver down her back.
“It’s hard to believe you didn’t run out the door, let alone see the end of my journey.”
Vilkas chuckled and pulled her back, staring into her eyes with, dare she see it, love. “You have the thief to thank for that. He is very persuasive, I can see why he’s a thief.”
She chuckled out of pure euphoria. It felt as if her heart was stuck in her throat.
“I have a question.” Vilkas pulled himself away from her, sitting back on the bed while crossing his arms across his chest. “What do you mean you might be Ulfric’s daughter? Are you not completely sure or…?”
“I saw it in his face. When he talked to me for the first time I felt he knew who I was.”
“Which means either he knows exactly who you are or he suspected of your existence time ago.”
With a nod, Thales moved and sat next to Vilkas’ burly frame.
“Why are you being so understanding? You have done nothing but yell at me and insult me ever since I left Jorrvaskr.” She spoke after a minute of silence. This was probably something she shouldn’t bring up, everything is going unexpectedly well. Yet, she needs to know. Where does Vilkas truly stand?
The hand sitting between them moved to caress her cheek as both stared into each other’s eyes. “I’ve spent long enough being upset at you—at myself. There is nothing I want more in this life but stand by your side until the Divines take us, if you’ll let me.”
“Vilkas, I don’t know what to say…”
His smile wavered and his hand dropped, but she instantly pushed herself forward and pressed her lips to him for the first time. Such an unknown sensation, the feeling of his dry lips against hers. She was immediately engulfed in a tight hug, and all her worries were disappearing one by one with each breath they were taking together.
Pulling back slightly, Thales looked at him and smiled. “I’ll have you, Vilkas.”
He smiled back and hugged her again. Once both pulled away from each other, Vilkas extended his hand for her to take it and she did, only to be pulled forward and off the bed.
“I love you Thales, words cannot describe the intensity in which I do. But right now there is something more important you need to resolve.”
Her heart fluttered but she wasn’t sure whether it was from excitement, or anxiety.
She didn’t speak, but he continued on filling in her expected silence. “You have to speak with Ulfric.”
Vilkas’ smirked as she nodded her head in agreement.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)Setting the papers down, Ulfric tried not to pace as he waited for the company.
It wasn’t a surprise that the girl asked to see him. He too thinks it’s about time they have a moment to address the mammoth in the room. Astounding was the fact that she looked just like her mother. The same small head, the bright red hair. Her eyes though, her eyes were as green and lively, as fierce and unforgiving as his own. There was no mistake, that girl was his. Her age matches, her looks match, the attitude as well. Too many coincidences for this to be a mistake.
His daughter, the thought itself felt foreign even in his own mind.
Audiana the Pirate. The name of the woman she bedded a couple of years after being released from the Thalmor, and years before his rebellion came to life. That woman was a spitfire, that was exactly what caught his attention the day they met close to two decades ago. He can’t help but wonder how Audiana is doing. She was a free woman, too free, nothing could keep her away from her open sea and silver waves. Not even an amulet of Mara from him.
He still has it saved inside a drawer in his sleeping chambers. Handmade, pure gold with rubies, sapphires, and emeralds adorning the front. So young and naive he had been back then. Not innocent, no, the Thalmor made sure to erase that part of him. But nothing stopped him from falling deeply and madly in love with an Imperial woman who belonged to the sea first and to him second.
He can’t help but to wonder whether she sent the girl to him or if the girl came on her own will. Audiana left without a regret, or so it seemed back then when they said their goodbyes that would last forever. There are simply too many questions he has, but he is sure the girl has twice as many. He is set to answer every one of them.
A knock interrupted his thoughts and one of his guards walked in to inform him that the girl was outside. He ordered them to let her in his conference room, to end the inevitable.
A daughter. Someone to carry on his legacy.
