Date: 2014-01-23 11:26 pm (UTC)Ulfric’s sight lingered on her face before he tilted his head back and walked out of the room.
Her heart was still beating, louder, harder, and faster. She knows now. And somehow, the painful realization that he’s just as aware made her stomach jump. He knows, he has too, Ulfric must have recognized her face.
This changes everything.
She could hear Ralof talking to Sapphire about a crown they need to collect to get the approval of Galmar, that way they can be sworn in and wear the uniform. But she wasn’t listening, her mind is long stuck on the moment she saw realization in his eyes and still nothing was said.
“Thales?” Ralof’s calm voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and if she didn’t bolt out of the room, out of the palace, she was going to embarrass herself in front of her friends.
“I’ll be right back, please stay here.” Her voice broke at the middle of the sentence, but she was walking away from them so there was a possibility they didn’t notice. Thales made her way out of the palace and without thinking ran into a passageway to the left of the courtyard, her breathing getting heavier and shorter.
This was it. The end of her road, the finish line to her lifelong quest, so why wasn’t she happy? She could run up to his private quarters and demand answers, or hugs. Because he knows and still nothing was said. Would she have become the Dragonborn if she had never embarked in the voyage? Her hands supported her weight against a damp, cold wall, and her body stopped trembling.
Her emotions were all jumbled up in a ball, stuck somewhere in her chest. It physically hurts her, to think back to minutes ago when she was standing in front of Ulfric. She could go in and demand everything and anything from him, throw tantrums and yell and cry and laugh, and she wants to, but she’s not a child anymore.

First of all, I want to thank everyone that reviews, I just can't express how amazing you all are! Second! I want to apologize to anyone expecting a super!dramatic first encounter. I'm trying to keep things leveled with Thales (don't get me wrong, there WILL BE CRAZY!DRAMA) since she's a very young person entrusted with sooo many responsibilities without asking for them. So for the sake of good character/relationship development, I decided to go with a mild first encounter. DO NOT FRET, I do expect to make you cry ;)
