F!DB/Odahviing: "The View From the Balcony" 3/3
Date: 2015-06-29 01:03 am (UTC)“So you are caring for me, is that it?” he scoffed. “That must be your joor side speaking. Compassion is hard to find among the dov.”
“You seem compassionate enough,” Kiera pointed out, resting her arms on the wing that was draped across her body. “You seem to like this whole cuddling thing.” Odahviing growled, shaking his head firmly.
“This affection has a name?” he sighed. “I don’t understand.” Kiera rolled her eyes, but merely snuggled closer to the dragon.
“That’s too bad. We mortals have quite a bit of fun with it.” She smirked lightly. “Sometimes it leads to other things.”
“What other things are those?”
“Nothing I could show you.” Kiera grinned to herself, and Odahviing’s chest heaved with another sigh.
“You are a confusing one, Dovahkiin. Surely you know that,” he grunted. Kiera smiled lightly.
“That’s one that I hear from humans and dragons, my friend,” she laughed. In the silence that followed, the dragon prisoner mused on their conversation so far, and lowered his head again.
“Dovahkiin,” he began cautiously.
“Mm?”
“My statement from before remains. I will not support you in the battle against Alduin. It is your time to prove your strength against him.” He paused, glancing back at the Imperial girl. “However, you have proven your strength against me, and that is no small feat. I believe it is likely that you will prevail.” Kiera looked up, her face softening, then squirmed out from under the dragon’s wing.
“Thank you, Odahviing. I believe the same,” she said, approaching his head again. Before he could react, she planted a kiss on his snout, and he tilted his head, staring down at her. The girl returned to his side, ready to rest at long last.
Irileth had been sent out early to oversee the guards as they switched shifts, and to check the rigging on the trap. When she opened the doors to the balcony, she stopped in her tracks, eyes widening at the sight before her.
Kiera, esteemed Dragonborn and Thane of Whiterun, was asleep on the stone floor of the balcony, curled up close to her dragon prisoner. Odahviing was asleep as well, looking more relaxed than the housecarl knew a dragon could look.
It truly had been an unusual week.
“It’s…time for you to switch shifts,” she grumbled to the two guards flanking her. “You know what to do. I need a drink.” With that, she returned to the palace, shaking her head.
