THALES ~ 2b
Date: 2013-08-23 06:52 pm (UTC)After their farewells, the Imperial walked away from the two Nords and her energy started diminishing with every step. She wasn’t one to stick to people and develop further relationships other than acquaintances, but for some reason she made the exception with those two and now she’s paying the price.
Growing up fending has toughened her up, and never relying on anyone else but yourself was the first lesson one learns living in the streets. But right now was not the time for sad thoughts. She had somewhere to go, and things to do.
Without further ado, the redhead headed to the inside of the Temple of Mara hoping something good will come from this.
“Welcome,” spoke a Dunmer as she walked into the warm and inviting place, “how may I be of assistance to you?”
“I was hoping to talk to you, Dinya.” A smile graced her features when the woman turned to see her face.
“Thales, yes, what can I do for you?” The woman motioned for her to sit down next to her on one of the benches.
“You haven’t had another vision from Mara recently, have you?”
She knew this was a long shot, but the woman never felt adamant on sharing her visions with her, especially not after she helped the woman collect donations from everyone in the city.
“How did you know? There is one actually. I had a day ago but I wasn’t able to understand it.” A spark of hope ignited in her heart. This was it, this was what she was hoping for after her conversation with the goddess of love.
“Well, what was it?” She didn’t want to waste a minute more.
“The vision showed that it was snowing, and it was very very cold. There was also what looked like a temple on the mountain behind the blizzard, oh, and a... a dragon. Or at least what looked like a dragon, I could be mistaken because like I said, there was a blizzard.” Closing her eyes, Dinya exhaled and grabbed her hand. “I think, I think this vision was meant for you to know its meaning. I can feel it.”
Thales tried to think of something, anything else besides High Hrothgar but nothing came to mind. Snow, temple, mountain, dragon? That was no place other than where the Greybeards live.

Date: 2013-09-21 06:37 am (UTC)The Imperial remembers the late night conversations her and Vilkas would occasionally have back in Jorrvaskr. He was a smart man, the smartest she’s ever met, and waiting to hear the stories he would tell her about the first Companions or about Skyrim was the best part of her day.
The day she absorbed her first dragon soul a loud and thunderous sound erupted in the skies, and everyone started freaking out as much as when the black dragon destroyed Helgen. They all spoke of the Greybeards who at the time she didn’t know what or who they were. Thales then decided to keep the soul absorbing a secret from everyone, at least until she understood what was going on.
At the time she was still somewhat new to Skyrim, and the only person she thought of asking about the rumors was Vilkas. He had explained that the Greybeards were an honored order of monks that lived in silence and also masters of the Way of The Voice, and they were calling the Dragonborn to them. He then proceeded to explain that the Way of The Voice was the idea that the dragon language is dangerous and should only be used for violence when truly needed.
The next thing he explained to her had shocked her at the time. He told her that the Dragonborn was a mortal with the soul of a dragon, who was able to end the immortality of the beasts by devouring the souls of said beasts. The thunderous sound that erupted the day she absorbed her first dragon soul had been the Greybeards calling to her.
She had visited them and with hard work but in a short time learned the Way of The Voice. The last time Thales was up in High Hrothgar was to talk to Paarthurnax about an Elder Scroll that she fetched along with Serana from deep within Blackreach.
What was odd about the vision Dinya had was that she is to visit them regarding her father. The Greybeards live secluded from anything going on in the world below them, how could they possibly help her figure out who her father was? As far as Vilkas told her, no one ever goes up there to chat with them because they deny everyone the entrance to the temple.
This all seemed very confusing, but the only way to figure it out is to go and ask.
Grabbing her cloak tighter around her, Thales walked the seven thousand steps as fast as she could. From what she can recall from all the times she’s been up there, she was close to the end of the climb and her nerves were starting to stir.
What if she gets greeted with disappointment? She’s never had her father, so if she is unable to find him, nothing would change. But deep inside her being she wants him to be alive.
The strong wind blew her hood off her head then the back of it filled up with air pushing her back. She needed to get there fast before the winds blow her off the mountain. Upping her speed, the young woman saw the beginning of the temple ahead and smiled to herself.
When she reached the last steps right before the big, metal doors, the Imperial exhaled and pushed them open. The warmth of the inside welcomed her, and she could see Borri meditating in the center of the main room. Bowing her head in respect, she walked past the monk looking for the one that would speak with her.
THALES ~ 3b
Date: 2013-09-21 06:38 am (UTC)Arngeir had been writing on some sort of book when she found him in one of the back rooms of the temple. “What are goi doing here, Dragonborn?” He asked as she approached him tentatively.
“Arngeir, I have something I want to ask you.” Thales started to get nervous again, but because she couldn’t figure out a way to start this conversation. How does one go on asking this questions?
“If it is more training you need, I’m afraid we’ve taught you all we can as for now.” His aged voice somehow calming her nerves. He was an older man with vast knowledge and power, maybe he will be able to help her as much as she thinks otherwise.
“Actually, it’s unrelated to Dragonborn stuff. Is there any way I can borrow some of your time? I don’t know how to start this and the backstory seems to be the best approach.” Bowing her head in permission, the redhead hopes he agrees.
“Go on, I’ll listen.” The man said willingly.
“I never got to meet my mother because she died before I was old enough to remember her, and my father was never a part of our lives. The captain that took care of me by the sea always told me tales about my father, things my mother would tell him. When he died I decided to take it upon myself to find my father, leading to many years of traveling all over Tamriel with caravans. I eventually ended up here in Skyrim where he most likely resides if he’s still alive. Recently I was contacted by one of the Divines—Mara, um and I was told that you might be able to direct me to my father.”
She tried her best to not sound like a crazy person when it came to the part of her talk with Mara, but the seriousness on Arngeir’s face made her stumble in her words.
“I must say, it doesn’t surprise me that the Dragonborn gets contacted by Divines.” This certainly clarifies the issue. “But I’m afraid I don’t understand why you would get pointed to me. No one has been here before you in many decades.”
Exhaling defeatedly, Thales’ hope felt like it was slipping off her hands. This was the only chance at finding the right path to travel to her father. Maybe he’s already dead, maybe he doesn’t want to know her or even knows she exists.
“Although I must say, your determination under our watchful eyes reminded me of someone from very long ago.”

“More than three decades ago a young man came to ask for our teachings, but I rejected his plea. Not long after that he would knock on our door every morning until I accepted him in. His determination and ambition caught my attention, and deep inside I knew he would be a great disciple. It took him many years and a vast amount of practice to be able to be a Tongue. He was set on becoming a Greybeard himself.
I saw him grow from a mere child to a man, and his determination never wavered. Not long after his accomplishment, he was summoned to the world below this mountain. He hasn’t been here since then, but I still remember his eyes, and your eyes are just like his.”
Thales’ mouth dropped open at his last comment. The captain that raised her the first years of her life always told her that her mom would always say how her eyes were just like her father’s. She felt her heart flutter for a moment, all her hardships and struggles flashing in front of her eyes as she stood in front of the monk. This was it, this was the moment she would hear her father’s name.
“Who was he?” She manages to ask, her voice cracking with emotion. She didn’t want to cry in front of Arngeir, but it was seeming difficult to keep herself in check. This was the end of her road, the door to her life goal.
“Mm, I believe he went by the name Ulfric.”
Her heart stopped at the sound of that name.
Ulfric, as in Ulfric Stormcloak? There had to be an explanation. She proceeded to ask the monk stories about the man who aspired to become a Greybeard. He told of many hardships we went through with them, the steps one needs to hurdle in order to become someone of such high position. It was fascinating.
Thales was positive Ulfric knows her father, that’s why Mara sent her here. Maybe her father is a man in his army, or maybe he’s someone from a royal family. Her stomach fluttered the whole time while listening to Arngeir, the excitement of being one step closer to the man she’s been looking for all her life.

Date: 2013-11-11 06:09 pm (UTC)“Oh I doubt he’s my father, but I’m sure he knows who. That’s why Mara sent me here, to have you tell me where to go next.” She smiled brightly at the man who stared at her with wondering eyes.
“I wish you luck, but don’t forget your task in hand. As Ysmir, it is your duty to protect the people from Alduin.”
“Yes, master. And thank you for everything.” Bowing her head, the redhead turned around and walked out into the blistering cold.
Thales had to think before making her way to Ulfric. She remembers him from when she first came to Skyrim; both had been tied and he had been also gagged. They sat next to each other on the wagon on their way to their beheading, it was odd to think about that now.
He’s free now and she couldn’t just go up to him and talk like they’re on the same level. She’s the daughter of a dead pirate and he’s a Jarl and possibly the future High King. Yes, a plan was needed for how she was going to approach this issue.
Making her long and arduous way down the steps, the redhead chose to return to Riften and ask Brynjolf for help. He was very skilled at coming up with plans to infiltrate and work your way up to your goal. Although this time the goal was a person, all in all it had the same steps. Hopefully she’d get him to tag along, but after leaving the Guild all to him she was thinking it would take some convincing.
And Serana, Thales hopes her friend is okay. She wishes the raven-haired woman were here with her but the vampire had other more important things to deal with on her own.
Once reaching Ivarstead, the Imperial took charge towards the home of the Thieves Guild.
