Date: 2014-02-26 08:53 pm (UTC)HOWEVER. I did just finish a fic which sort of fits, for another prompt also involving Hagravens, and has the Hag in question's backstory including why she made her choice.

Again, it is not exactly what the prompt specifies in that there's no description of the Ascension Ritual that makes a Matriarch... but if no one ever writes a proper fill for this, it may satisfy some of the OP's needs. :)
