The Lusty Bosmer Maid (9/9)
Date: 2014-04-26 12:19 am (UTC)He was naked.
That startled him to full wakefulness and he bolted upright, clutching the bearskin to his lap. It was rarely a good idea to be completely naked in the Wilds - so why was he? He looked around.
At the other side of the fire was his employer, fully kitted out, her hair neatly plaited and falling over one shoulder. Nothing was amiss, but he was naked? He looked helplessly at her.
Hearing his movements, she looked up at him and caught his gaze, and was suddenly furiously blushing, her cheeks the color of dates against her dark brown skin, and Vorstag knew that it had been no dream. He couldn't help the smile that he felt spread over his face, and he knew that it made him look helplessly fond but it wouldn't be helped.
"So, uh-"
"Did we- uh -"
They both started at the same time, and broke off awkwardly. Since his companion was actually dressed and thus better able to face the day, he let her start and motioned for her to continue.
"Well, um, Vorstag." She started, and he had never heard her hesitate over his name before. "I suppose I owe you an explanation about last night?"
He laughed. It was probably something very serious, he was sure, but it was hard to be somber when this beautiful woman was flushing and trying to seriously explain what had been easily the best night of his life thus far. "Go on."
"Well, do you remember when I told you about the, uh, the Green Pact?" She looked at him and he wondered again how he had ever thought her face unfeeling. He nodded. "I can't tell you too much, but. Well. Every spring we, us Bosmer, I mean, we. Get a little... into the season?"
"So, you were...overcome by the Spring?" he asked, still smiling. He knew, objectively, that his stern archer was lethal and beautiful, but she was blushing down to the tips of her ears. It was hard to take it seriously.
"Well, yes, but - No, I don't mean -" she stopped, and gathered her thoughts. She moved across the fire to sit to his side. "It kind of overwhelmed me. I didn't think it would affect me this far North. Usually it's strongest in my homeland, but. I've heard of this happening in spring regardless of where we are, but only..." She trailed off. "Oh, don't make me say it."
"Say what?" Vorstag grinned, putting an arm around her slightly prickly armor. She didn't shrug it off. "Let me guess, it can happen when you're with a handsome Nord, alone in the wilderness..."
"Ugh," she buried her head in her hands. "Almost? It can happen if there are...strong feelings involved. And that may also...uh..."
"May also....?"
"Bethemarriageceremonyofmypeople," she rushed out in one breath.
Vorstag could feel her blush from where he was sitting. "So, we're...married?" He was surprised, but not unpleasantly. It wasn't the oddest thing to happen in her company, and it probably wouldn't be the last. He kind of liked the idea of adventuring with the woman for the rest of his life.
"Not if you don't want to be!" She hurriedly said. "I don't want to...spring this on you. It can just be a one time thing," she continued, markedly more downcast.
"No, my love. I would love to marry you," he said, feeling himself smiling like an idiot but not caring when she looked up at him fondly. "Although, we may need to get an amulet of Mara, you know. To make things official."
She smiled and leaned up to kiss him. "That sounds like an excellent plan. I hear Riften is beautiful this time of year.”

Date: 2016-09-17 09:45 am (UTC)I just want to say that I absolutely enjoyed this! I just found this story and seriously, I just LOVE how descriptive the narrative is plus the characterisation of Vorstag and the DB (I also like how you've made the Bosmer seem very fey-like and interesting--instead of just, 'another regular character with pointy ears')! I'm glad to have stumbled over this fill, thanks for writing this!
