M!DB/F!Companion - "Sweet As Honey" 8/?
Date: 2014-09-01 02:01 pm (UTC)Late afternoon the next day, they were climbing the hill to Solitude. They could see the castle towers rising up to greet them and further in the distance, the Blue Palace shone in the winter sunshine.
Bel sighed contentedly next to him, her arm occasionally brushing against his and they walked in companionable silence. They hadn't spoken much but Bel appeared to be quite comfortable around him. That appeased him a little. After his embarrassing...reaction to their closeness last night, he had been terrified that she had noticed and that she wouldn't want to speak to him again. But there was no sign that she had realised his body had betrayed him and she was acting quite normally today.
"Dragonborn." The guard at the gate greeted with a short nod. The gate opened and they stepped inside, Bel chuckling beside him. He stared at her.
"What?"
She grinned. "Nothing, it's just...it's odd hearing people call you 'dragonborn'. You're so...ordinary that I forget."
Roghir presumed she meant that in a nice way as she was beaming at him fondly. Then she looked around and her eyes widened.
"It's so beautiful here!"
Her words shook him from his thoughts. Solitude. The Legion. Right.
"You've never been here before?"
She shook her head. "I've never been this far north before. It's lovely. The buildings look so neat!"
He smiled and gestured in the direction of Castle Dour. "I have some business to do in the castle. Can you book us rooms at the Winking Skeever?"
She perked up even more at that. "An inn?!" She squealed. "Yes, of course! I'll book the rooms and take a nap, I think. Then we can eat and drink this evening...?"
He nodded. His meeting with Tullius wouldn't take long and he could also use a nap before the evening meal. "I'll see you later then."
They parted ways, her skipping off to the inn leaving him fantasising about what would happen if there was only one bed left. As he trudged to the castle, he knew nothing would happen. 'I'd still be too much of a coward even then.'
*
She had booked two rooms, he discovered an hour later when he entered the Winking Skeever and asked for the key to his room. The inkeep told him that the 'pretty girl' was in the room next to his and then winked.
Roghir nodded awkwardly and made his way up the stairs to the top floor. He unlocked his room, staring longingly at the closed door next to his. He wondered what she was doing in there. Sleeping, most likely. 'Yes, but in what?' His traitorous mind began to wonder. 'Perhaps a large shirt. Gods, imagine her in my shirt and nothing else! Or maybe a night dress. One of those sheer ones that cling to every curve. Or maybe nothing at all.' He almost groaned aloud, pushing open his door and stepping inside. He chucked his pack down in the corner and closed the door. He started unbuckling his armour, eager to be rid of it for a few hours. 'Hmm. Imagine her in nothing but the furs on the bed.'
He felt himself twitch in his trousers. He squeezed his eyes closed. Now wasn't the time. He needed to rest and then he would see her again when they met in the inn for food and drinks. And he couldn't have the image of her naked in his bed on his mind or he'd end up drooling into his food.
So he peeled off everything but his loincloth and climbed into bed, groaning with relief as his body hit the soft mattress.
