ANNOUNCEMENTS: UPDATED 12/16/2017
Happy Holidays, fellow Kinkmemers! I have returned and have no reasonable excuse for my absence except LIFE. I will be working on updating the archives. If anyone sees anything amiss, please let me know.
I am also hoping to find another Mod and an Archivist.
The more dedicated people we have in this Meme the less chance of it dying. I admit that being the sole keeper of the Meme is not great for the fandom. If something were to happen to me, for good, this place would go the way of the Fallout Kink Meme. Let's not let that happen! If anyone would be interested in Modding/Archiving, please drop me a line. Thanks! <3
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-13 10:39 pm (UTC)I'm sorry but this is absolutely terrible characterisation. Aela would NEVER force a person to take the blood. Or did you MISS the part where they reassured you they won't make you?
You've butchered two characters in the name of plot progression. Aela is forceFUL but she wouldn't force someone. And Skjor is too rational to force a werewolf. I seriously can't believe you removed their characteristics like that. I'm disappointed, A!A.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-13 11:06 pm (UTC)On another note you could have voiced your opinion in a much friendlier way (e.g. you would have preferred Skjor and Aela remained in character, or you believed their characters to be different or any number of things really), thus showing respect for the A!A working hard on this story.

Date: 2013-07-14 12:29 pm (UTC)Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 11:31 am (UTC)I understand where you're coming from but like the other Anon said; this is fanfiction (and unless you're the OP then sorry but tough luck! ;) If you are OP then sorry!). Skyrim is a wonderful game but characterisation of the NPCs is somewhat neutral in order to allow the gamer choice in the open world setting and as such you can project your own ideas onto them. And the great thing about that is it can change. I love Aela and Skjor but in this universe they did what they did to Igne for a reason (and what they believe to be a rational one at that); the Silver Hand are meant to be a huge threat to the Companions in this story but in game they attack the Companions just once (to introduce them and lead to the werewolf side of the plot).
I am writing a story where the Silver Hand are a continuous threat to the Companions with active plots against them and the Circle are aware of this but they are not the aggressors (unlike in the game). Kodlak is trying to remove the Beast blood and Farkas and Vilkas are also abstaining; in my head Skjor and Aela were frustrated with this and also with what they perceive to be a lack of action on this front- how many times does Kodlak mention the Hand? Or send you on a quest to fight them? The Circle is dwindling and Skjor and Aela believe that Kodlak is throwing away centuries of tradition and a great gift. So they did what they thought they had to do and as soon as it was done Skjor felt guilty and went looking for her. As for Aela she still is convinced she gave Igne a gift and that it will help save her life. Her attitude may change slightly over the next few chapters but she is grieving and stubborn and needs vengeance.
There are conversations later on that explain this more and delve into Aela's mindset so either keep reading and trust me somewhat or stop reading. You are entitled to your opinion, so am I. It may not be what you want from a fanfiction. There will be more plot changes. There may be more of what you perceive to be OOCness. I am enjoying writing this and I will continue to do so (well until OP asks me to stop- I am their personal chef and they can fire me :p)

Date: 2013-07-14 12:23 pm (UTC)And thank you for the support :D
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 12:34 pm (UTC)You could have done this different ways; Igne didn't have to be FORCED to take the blood. She could have thought it over and changed her mind. Instead you decided Aela and Skjor were forcible people, not patient warriors, and changed their characters.
Did you ever consider that Kodlak doesn't mention the Hand until they're a problem because he doesn't want to be forced to come up against them? Or that Aela and Skjor know that forcing a werewolf can have disastrous consequences oh wait look what happened she got captured.
Aela's outlook on the wolf blood is that it's a great gift, yes, but not once does Aela ever force you to do anything in game. I severely hope her attitude changes back to her actual self, A!A. And I hope you don't butcher anyone else because if you really enjoy writing these characters you'll accept their given personalities and not try to change them.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 12:59 pm (UTC)I get it, you don't like my story; fair enough. I could have done it different ways. I didn't. Tough.
I will now draw your attention to the nice long list of rules posted at the top of every page:
N Constructive criticism:only allowed if the Auth!Anon asks for it specifically. Note that this is a place for fanfiction - no one needs a lesson on how their prompt doesn't fit in with the lore or canon. Please keep your corrections about grammar, lore and spelling to yourself.
I didn't ask for constructive criticism; I don't want it. The OP is happy with it and that's all I care about. Now stop it.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 09:45 pm (UTC)I didn't give two shits about anything else. I actually liked this story. It was good. I was enjoying it a great deal because I like Companion fanfiction.
Genuinely, apart from that one blip in their characterisation you've got them spot on. Aela being vengeful and Skjor going after the DB to make sure she's safe? That sounds like something they'd do. It was good.
You just didn't have to write them forcing someone because they aren't like that, and sure 'it's your fanfic' but someone took the time sculpting Aela's personality and you went 'NOPE' for ten seconds.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 10:24 pm (UTC)Read the FAQ section and the question about OOCness.
Read all of the comments from the lovely Anons posted after your flaming.
Read my comments where I made an attempt to explain.
Read the lovely disclaimer I've added.
Now go away. Seriously.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 10:39 pm (UTC)Nobody cares that you don't like it, you don't have the right to criticise someone in a space that is not meant for criticism.
You don't like it? That's fine, there are things on the kmeme I'm not enamoured with either however I do not think for one minute that my opinion matters. Not to the point where I attack someone for their work out of petty spite (which is what you are doing).
I'm not even going to respond to your complaint about how someone took time to 'sculpt Aela's character' because it actually has no relevance what so ever at this point. If this is something you want to have a discussion about it then you have chosen the wrong place to have it, there are spaces where this sort of conversation can take place. This thread is not the place.
TL:DR? No-one here wants your opinion. Go away.

Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 11:29 pm (UTC)Everyone is entitled to their opinions, we all have our own ideas, likes and dislikes, it makes us who we are. But this meme is meant to be a place to have fun, to explore an amazing world, alter it and add to as we wish. I've deen things here that physically aren't even possible, but in fanfiction they can happen if the author so chooses. If there is anyone entitled to say if the alteration of certain characters is not allowed it's the people at Bethesda, it being their creation and all. They have not so we can play with their characters freely. If I want Skjor to be a total arse, I'll write a story with him being said arse. If I want Aela to be a shy little girl, I'll write such a story. If I want Farkas to be the smarter of the twins, I'll make it so. That is the power of imagination, of fanfiction, of writing. That is one of the things this meme is about.
Now please, either stay and enjoy this dinnerparty, without further atempts to ruin our fun, or move on to the next restaurant.

Your "constructive criticism" has been politely declined. Please stop.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-15 07:53 pm (UTC)Anyway, keep up the great work A!A :)
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-15 11:52 pm (UTC)Well, it would be feasible and Namira would also approve ;)
Thank you for the support and welcome to the dinner party! And thank you for the cookies, in return I will serve a chocolate covered Vilkas that I'm saving for dessert...though he's cowering in the corner for some reason now...silly boy.
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 01:06 pm (UTC)Fanfiction is fun because we explore the alternatives or fill in the gaps of what happened in the cannon. One of the best things about it is that it actively encourages people to create their own stories and art and allows a community to grow. Not one single piece of fanfiction, kink or otherwise, is going to completely match up to everyone's own headcannon but its fun to see other people's take on stories?
Even better? ITS FREE AND NOT MANDATORY. If you do not like a story you do not read it. Simple as that.
If you had bothered to read the K!Meme's rules you would have found this:
★N Constructive criticism: only allowed if the Auth!Anon asks for it specifically. Note that this is a place for fanfiction - no one needs a lesson on how their prompt doesn't fit in with the lore or canon. Please keep your corrections about grammar, lore and spelling to yourself.
So please get off this thread and stop spoiling this story for the rest of us.

Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 01:36 pm (UTC)Nothing gets my goat more than needless hate in a place that is supposed to be fun for everyone involved!
I'm so sorry that A!Anon has had to put up with that, I know that had anything of mine on here been subject to that kind of abuse I'd have been very upset - especially with this meme being so laid back usually.
Please don't take it to heart and I hope you realise that lots of people are enjoying what you've written so far, so keep going! :)
Re: Call of the Blood 12.3/?
Date: 2013-07-14 01:44 pm (UTC)Don't worry I haven't, mostly thanks to the nice Anons who have defended me- so thank you!
I'm with you on the needless hate and fortunately this meme is very good at dealing with the haters. There's always the odd one or two though :(
