THALES ~ 5b
Date: 2013-11-14 07:34 pm (UTC)“Oh, I got one but I don’t think you want to hear it.” His eyes hardened at her insult to his elaborative and in fact efficient plan.
“Try me.” She challenged him, so he bent forward to whisper in her ear.
“Tell him you’re the Dragonborn and that you want to speak with him. That sure would get him to talk, and quick.” He straightened his torso to stare back at her. His smugness irritated her a little but he was right.
“I can’t reveal to anyone who I am and you know perfectly well why, you idiot.” Thales whispered back, a frown adorning her features.
“Hey, I’m just the plan maker. Those are the two that I can come up with that will get him to either trust you or fear you. You could try and sneak into his bedroom when he’s inside the palace, that sure would work on getting you close to him, don’t know about the telling part.”
Shaking her head, Thales crossed her arms across her bosom and stared into the water pensively. There had to be an easy way, right? It was just a question after all. It’s not like the redhead thinks life is easy; one thing she has clear on her mind is that there isn’t any easy way but this is about her father and she had hoped—
“Do you know anyone that’s close to him? Surely you do with the whole Dragonborn dilemma and all that.” Brynjolf stared at her as her mind worked around all the people she’s got to meet in Skyrim ever since getting here. And he was right, there was someone.
“Yes, his name is Ralof, but by now he’s probably back in the army with the rest of his men. Ugh, I guess I’ll have to go to Windhelm and see which plan works best.” Wrinkling her nose in distaste, Thales stood up along with the Nord and groaned. “The worst part is that I can’t just go and join the freaking army, I have to protect Skyrim from the dragon attacks.”
“You could, you’ll just have to hope dragons don’t attack during a mission with the army.”
“And we both know how convenient it is for them to attack when I’m busy…”
Both stood facing each other, without saying anything else. It was comfortable silence, the kind of comfort that is born from deep trust, one Thales has never experienced before Brynjolf.
“I wish you could come with me,” the Imperial looked up at the older man’s face and gave him a sad smile, “but I know you have to stay here and take care of business.”
The Nord smiled back and engulfed her in a tight hug, something they don’t do quite often but is warmly welcomed when it happens.
“Lass, you’ll be fine on your own. Besides, you can run back here anytime you need more hugs.” He let Thales go and the Imperial decided to get things ready for her trip to Windhelm.
Thales needs to get it together and remember that her whole life has been her and her shadow. Going off into this ‘mission’ all alone is nothing new nor something she isn’t more than used to. Yet, lately she’s had Serana by her side and Brynjolf as well, accompanying her on adventures and having someone to worry about and care for.
It wasn’t a crime to become fond of friendship, of trust. Lately she wishes it were.

All of you lovely reviewers are awesome, amazing, stupendous, etc etc etc! You make me so happy! I feel SO bad for leaving this story that whole time! I actually had ch4 already done but I guess I forgot to put it here (which is not surprising since I write fanfiction like I change underwear XD)
Thank you! I hope you keep enjoying the story. We're almost about to get to the good parts! ;)

It hadn’t been that long after meeting Vilkas that Thales knew she was going to hate the man. He was handsome, strong and incredibly intelligent, but his presumptuousness and lack of tact was something that overshadowed those dreamy traits. He had assumed she was there for some hidden reason, that she held a desire to hurt him and his ‘family’.
The Nord had been rude, brash and overall a horrible person to her. Only at the beginning though, eventually he had to accept the fact that she was a strong woman and that she could be molded into the perfect warrior. It made his eyes twinkle in delight. He, after all, basked in the glory of his prowess. So Thales accepted his mentoring, his private and very harsh training. The way he would permanently wrinkle his eyebrows in wonder, the way he would pat her back gently after she memorized the best ways to defeat the enemy made it hard for the Imperial to refuse no matter how straining and demanding his words were.
It became some sort of addiction to her, to be the focus point of the older Nord. She eventually found out he was much more than what he let on to others. He liked sweets, warm, homemade sweetrolls specifically. That one was one hilarious find. Thales also found out he treasured his twin brother and friends more than his own life, willing to throw himself in front of the enemy to protect them, to protect her countless of times.
And one night she also found out he liked to read. For seven days Thales kept running into him on cold, lonely nights, a book on hand and comfortable yet warm clothing on his body. Vilkas didn’t push her away. In fact, he had welcomed her, reading to her, telling her of many stories about the Companions, the Nords, their culture, other cultures. It had shifted something inside of her. Something deep within the depths of her soul, a sentiment she had always kept buried. His passion did that to her, he was a private and a very passionate man. He held passion for knowledge, wisdom and power.
To some point Vilkas became an idea in her head. As days went by and their strange but warm friendship forged, Thales couldn’t help but wonder. Would he still be friends with her if he knew she had the soul of a dragon? Of course he would, he wasn’t like the others. If there was one person in this sick and dark world she could lean on, it would be Vilkas. To some point, Vilkas became a rock, a pillar to her. He became the warm, fatherly figure she always yearned to have, the one person she could show weakness to and not worry about pretenses. And in some ways, she knows, she became the same to him.
And then Kodlak died, and they ran back and forth trying to escape the webs of hatred and revenge they tangled themselves into. She killed, she collected, and Vilkas patted her back.
He had thrown himself in his private quarters for days to no end. He had thrown himself at all missions, any missions just to get away, to dull the pain of losing his warm, fatherly figure. The day she noticed a different, dimming twinkle in his eyes was the day he asked her to save his soul. To accompany him in the most acrimonious and intimate mission that could come between them. And Thales accepted, the guilt of dirtying Kodlak’s legacy, of rejecting his dying wish urging her to accept and kill, and collect. Yet, there had not been Vilkas to pat her back that last time.
They exchanged heated words, words of hatred and words that pierced straight in the heart. Words that as time went by, both began to regret. Because Thales knew she shouldn’t have touched that part of Vilkas he only showed to her, and Vilkas knew what made her eyes water in fear anytime they were alone.
The day they parted ways, both experienced heartache, but not for the first time.
So shoving the letter Farkas wrote back to her in her pack, asking her to reconcile with Vilkas, was the best option for now. She had more important things to worry about, like finding her father and deciding which way would be the fastest. Later she would find the time to write him back.
THALES ~ 6b
Date: 2013-11-18 02:07 am (UTC)Two guards stopped her before she was able to proceed, a sword pointed directly at her chest. It infuriated her, their immediate hostility towards her person.
“What business do you have, Imperial?” The emphasis on her race made her arch an eyebrow in question. She’s heard that Nords can be racist people, specifically here in Windhelm, but she’s never experienced it herself.
“I came,” Thales paused herself, wondering what exactly was she here for, “to join the army.” She cursed herself but at the end decided on that, it would be the easiest thing to justify her presence and her wanting to talk to Ulfric. “Fuck the Legion.” She added the last part in her attempt to sound genuine, but winced internally at the lack of.
The two guards stared down at her with a frown each. It wasn’t helping her that Nords were usually a head and half taller than her, and the sword still pointing at her chest wasn’t easing the feeling.
“Tullius is an asshole.” Surprisingly enough, that comment got a smile from both guards and they even opened the door for her. Thales was somewhat happy the pirates back where she’s from taught her how to use naughty language, and this is the first time that talent has helped her in anything.
Needless to say, the poor General of the Legion had to be the butt of her joke. She doesn’t personally know him, but they did meet the day she was going to be beheaded down in Helgen, along with Ulfric.
Shaking those thoughts out of her head, Thales walked in gripping her hooded cape tighter around her body, wondering where an inn would be in this city. It was late in the night and all she wanted was a hot bath and a very restful sleep. The trip from Riften to here had been difficult and extremely cold, her being an Imperial and susceptible at catching colds and such.
Walking towards a huge building with light coming from round windows, the redhead was about to open the door when a piercing scream stopped her. Turning around, her practiced skills made her stop breathing for a couple of seconds to point where the next scream was coming from. The sound echoing all around the empty city, making her skin crawl and not from the piercing cold wind.
Taking into a quick run, she went around that huge building she was about to go into and then down a narrow and dark hallway, the screams getting louder and louder, indicating she was near the area. As she came to a set of steps going down into a courtyard of sorts, she slowed herself down or at least tried, but she ended up slipping on the layer of thin ice on the stone ground, sending her flying forward and into wet dirt face first.
“OH GOD!” The woman screamed, throwing herself back and to the ground in defense as Thales tried to lift herself up. So much for trying to save the woman. She spat out the dirt that got into her mouth, freezing up in realization that the one thing she tasted besides the earth, was blood.
“What is going on here!?” Two guards, a woman and a man came running from around the corner at the other end of the courtyard, stopping for a second before jumping at her and holding her down on the ground. They were both Nords and indeed heavy as they can get.
“Wait! Wait! I haven’t done anything, I just got to this city!” The Imperial tried to yell but both bodies were pushing the air out of her lungs, making it hard to talk and breathe at the same time.
“The killer! The killer! There’s a dead girl!” The air was starting to become hard to get, and Thales’ arms and legs were too numb from the cold to push back and fight. All she could do was let the blackness surround her and hope that this was all a terrible joke from the Divines.
As expected, before her sight faded into nothingness, Thales was not surprised.

Date: 2013-11-19 06:30 pm (UTC)Looking up, Thales spotted a beautiful brunette walking her way, her hopes up as she was accompanied by a guard with a key on his hand. She was finally getting out of jail, the murder was cleared and everything regarding her reputation back to how it’s supposed to be. There was definitely lots of jewels going her friend’s way.
“And then everyone wonders why Pa worries for you, Ma.” Sapphire’s blue eyes twinkled in sarcasm as both walked out of the barracks then out of the Palace of the Kings. Thales turned to the brunnette and glared at her.
“Pa— you mean Brynjolf? Is that why you’re here? Goddammit, how long until you all stop teasing me about Brynjolf, and also there’s nothing to worry about.”
“Well, that’s not the issue. The issue here is that you’re too clumsy for your own good, so I’ll stick around with you until you’re ready to go back to Riften.” The Imperial stopped her walking and turned to her friend with a pointed look.
“Brynjolf asked you to help me, don’t you dare lie to me.” Both women stared at each other not backing down before Sapphire burst out laughing. The redhead rolled her eyes and kept on walking until both reached the busy market.
“Yeah you’re right, but in his defense, you were in jail. You know how bad that looks for us, and even more now that we’ve finally got out of the bad raft.” The brunette pointed to a stand where they were selling food and both payed for a quick meal before walking to the inn where Sapphire was staying at. “Besides, you owe me one. I’m not a damn mystery murder solver, I’m a thief. And a damn good one at that.” Her other hand lifted a second bag of cheese that was hiding behind her back.
“Sapphire, you can’t do that here. You’ll compromise our positions, specially now that you’re helping me. We have to go somewhere private.” Thales grabbed her by the hand holding the extra bag of cheese and pulled the Nord woman towards the inn, then waited for Sapphire to lead her to the room she was paying for.
“Okay, what couldn’t be said out on the streets?” The older woman threw everything she had on her on a bench by the bed and sat on said bed, looking up at Thales.
“We’re joining the Stormcloak rebellion.”
Sapphire choked on the cheese she was munching on while staring at the Imperial in shock.
Thales would never admit it, but Sapphire coming here was calming her down, especially after knowing that Brynjolf sent her with the purpose of joining her on her journey. The truth is, Thales doesn’t know how to do this. At first it sounded simple enough; join the army, fight until she has a moment alone with Ulfric, then ask him what she wants to know. But after she was incarcerated for a whole week for something she didn’t do, it seemed that the plan was a lot more complicated than she thought. And most likely it was going to get even more complicated.
“You’re serious. And by the easiness of your body language Brynjolf already knows, and that’s precisely the reason why he sent me. Whatever you’re doing, he doesn’t want you to do it alone.” The last sentence was said in a softer voice, and the brunette sighed in defeat. “Whatever, I better get a good enough payment for this. No cut for the Guild, thought.”
“Yeah, yeah. You will have as many sapphire’s as your heart desires.” The redhead smiled brightly and clapped her hands. “That rhymed! I’ve never done a rhyme before.” The giddiness on her actions was mostly due to the acceptance of her friend. She wasn’t going to do this on her own, it seems.
“You know, if I’m going to be joining a rebellion as part of a job, don’t you think I should know at least the reason why you’re doing this? Brynjolf didn’t tell me anything, which is not surprising, but you two trust me enough to have me accompany you in this.”
“Your ability to read people amazes me.” The Imperial smiled down at the woman sitting on the bed and then joined her sitting on the bed while chewing on a piece of spiced bread. “I’m looking for someone. My father to be precise.”
THALES ~ 7b
Date: 2013-11-19 06:31 pm (UTC)“I remember you mentioned that you’ve always wanted to meet him. It’s good, you know, for you to be looking for him, even if you don’t know whether he’s alive or not.”
“Yeah.” Thales finished eating her bread and sat there next to the brunette. A long silence fell between them, but not the bad kind. It was more of a sombering feeling. “You know, when I ran away from the Gold Coast, most of the time I slept out on the streets. I used to wrap my arms around myself on cold nights and pretend it was my father protecting me from the cold.”
“I can relate to that. The man that married my mother wasn’t the sentimental type of Nord, so he mostly barked orders at me and my siblings, but we never saw even a small smile from him. Sometimes I would wonder why did he even marry my mother, you know?” Thales nodded her head at her rhetorical question.
“Did she ever talk about your real father? Your mother, I mean.” The Imperial dared to ask, wondering whether the brunette was going to shut down and change the conversation or actually answer a question from her this time.
“Not really. She did have some colorful things to say about him, but it was never about him being a bad person, it was always just about him leaving her. That’s what pisses me the most about him.”
“Why?” Thales pressed, wondering how far she could take this conversation.
“During that… fortnight… every day I would wake up and I would wish to anything for someone, something to get me out of that hell. And somehow my stupid childish mind would take me to the thoughts of my father, that he could walk in any minute and kill all of the men hurting his little girl. That because he was a good man, he would someday come back and save me.
As you know, he never did. I wasted precious time thinking he could come back and save me because he didn’t hate us, he didn’t hate me. He just hated the fact that he wasn’t as free as he thought anymore. Once I was able to escape, after I killed all those disgusting bandits, I allowed myself to become angry. That maybe if he had been a bad person, a horrible human being, I would’ve never gotten my hopes up in such a desperate situation.”
Thales’ green eyes were wide and glassy, and without thinking twice she threw herself at her friend and hugged her tightly. The brunette immediately started to push her away, but eventually she let the Imperial hug her.
“You can’t do that to yourself Sapphire, you were just a child.” The redhead whispered as she hugged her tighter. Serana’s story had emotionally drained her for a long time, and ever since meeting the raven-haired woman, Thales has wanted nothing other than to ease everyone’s emotional pain. “I could never imagine relating to what happened to you, but I was once a lonely child and one without a father as well. You can’t blame yourself for wanting your father to protect you.”
The Imperial felt dampness on her arm as it rested on Sapphire’s chest, and her own tears started to flow freely, along with her friend’s.
“I’ve never told this to anyone, not even Brynjolf. I feel like I just uncorked a bottle of something terrible from deep inside me.”
Letting go of her friend to rub the tear tracks down her cheeks, Thales did the same to Sapphire’s face and smiled at her brightly. As brightly as she could under the circumstances.
“I promise that I will repay my debt by helping you find your father.”
By the look Sapphire gave her, Thales was sure the brunette was going to reject her statement, her help. But surprisingly enough, the Nord smiled back and nodded her head in agreement.

Date: 2013-11-19 06:35 pm (UTC)~
After the emotional and life-sucking conversation the two women had at the inn, Thales just wanted to wrap furs around her shoulders and witter into nothingness for the rest of her life. Everything about Skyrim seemed so depressing, even the people living in it, her friends. Why couldn’t everyone be happy? Why couldn’t everything be okay? Why did she grow up alone? Why was she a the Dragonborn? The questions that always crossed her mind yet remained unanswered were a plague.
“You’re ready?” The brunette walked into the bathing room and frowned when she noticed the redhead was still nude and inside the bathwaters. “We have to go meet the captain. He’s the one that will decide whether we are in or not.”
Nodding, Thales stood up and caught the fabric Sapphire threw at her so she could dry her body with.
Once she was dressed and ready, the Nord woman handed her the axe she owns and her pack, and both headed for the Palace of the Kings to talk to the captain that will test them for the rebellion. The redhead hopes that the rumors of Nords being all about strength and power and not about strategy were right, because whether she liked it or not, Thales indeed was clumsy, a clumsy but incredibly powerful warrior.

A!A here, SORRY! Character development and all that! I PROMISE THIS HAS A POINT hahahahaa XD forgive me. And yes, you guys by now would probably know why I keep mentioning Serana and Sapphire. Well, they both have something in common with Thales... lack of father! (and girl power and all that - except at this point Serana had to kill hers, whoops :( ) anyway, I promise (and if you've played this part of the game, you'll know that) this is about to get good.

Date: 2013-11-25 10:54 am (UTC)THALES ~ 8
Date: 2013-12-04 03:17 am (UTC)His eyes were scanning the same paragraph for the fifth time and he still had no idea what he was reading. As much as Vilkas tried to keep the redhead out of his head, his attempts were failing and now he’s more irritated than ever. In frustration, the Nord threw the book to the wall next to his bed and the item fell with a loud thud.
Sighing, the man let himself fall back to stare at the rocky ceiling with a frown on his face. The last conversation he had with Thales kept replaying in his mind. In truth, he hadn’t meant to be so—surly. Vilkas was thirty three years old, for divines’ sake, decades beyond the childish phase. And yet, this is what Thales brings out of him, unruly feelings that he can’t seem to stop. Not even when he was much younger and a fool does Vilkas remember feeling this way about a woman.
Thales impales him to lose his mind.
Vilkas heard steps approaching his room and sat up as his twin brother opened the door, not bothering to knock first. Rolling his eyes, the Nord knows his brother has come once again to chastise him. He did it earlier in the day, and also two days ago, and the day he handed him the letter as well. This was starting to get annoying. Vilkas was usually the one to chastise out of the two, when did they switch places?
“Get up and pack.” The emotionless tone in his voice made Vilkas arch his eyebrows.
“Would you mind telling me why, brother?”
“You’re going to go and apologize to her.” Grunting in frustration, the older of the twins stood up from his bed and glared at his brother, hoping to make a point.
When both stood there without making a sound, just staring at one another, he realized that there was no budging. Farkas is not going to give up.
“Why are you doing this, what do you need me to do to show I don’t care about her?” His face was starting to get hot from anger, why can’t his brother understand. Vilkas don’t like to be told what to do, specially when it comes to his feelings.
“But you do, Vilkas! You know, I know, everyone here knows and yet the two of you are so stubborn. You’re getting on a goddamned horse and you’re going to get your ass to Riften.”
“To that thief infested city!? Is this your subtle way of saying I’m to go to that appalling place and look for her?” The indignation in his voice was ignored by his brother who, instead of answering his questions, grabbed his cotton tunic from the front and pulled him close to his considerable muscular chest.
“Look, Vilkas, I’m doing this for you.” His grip loosened on the shirt and instead of getting a punch on the face, Vilkas was engulfed in his brother’s just as considerable muscular arms. “I know she makes you happy. The only other time I ever saw you this happy was when we finally got rid of the curse.”
Vilkas’ frown lessened as he rested his chin on his twin brother’s shoulder. His own arms went up and slowly wrapped themselves on the other’s back. It wasn’t rare for Farkas to show affection, the guy as big as he is had the propensity to touch him affectionately. But lately they’ve been fighting too much, too frequently. It was worrying him that Thales goes as far as changing the dynamic of his and Farkas’ relationship.
There is some serious thinking he needs to do about priorities.
THALES ~ 8b
Date: 2013-12-04 03:20 am (UTC)“Not fighting with you makes me happy, Farkas.”
His brother huffed out a laugh before patting his shoulder and shoving him towards his chest filled with clothes and armors. “You took care of me when we were pups, and I owe you that. Now it’s my turn, and if I have to fight you all the way to your happiness then so be it.”
Rolling his eyes, Vilkas turned around and took his clothes off, then grabbed the warm top and bottom he uses under his armor and put it on. It didn’t take him long to pack bags of septims, and a couple of potions.
Once he had everything ready and on him, he grabbed a small pack and filled it with some food, rejecting Thelma’s suggestion of taking a sweetroll for the road. Before walking out, he turned around and saw Farkas standing by the rail of the stairs, smirking at him. With a wave, he walked outside and made his way out of the busy city.
The prospect of seeing Thales again is making him feel excited despite having to go in the disgusting underground quarters where she lives. How did that even happen is a question Vilkas always asks himself. He took so much care in training her and shaping her to be the best of the best, and then Thales turns around and becomes a thief.
“A damn dirty thief.” He mutters to himself as he approaches the stables to get a horse.
Although he has to admit, he did a damn good job with her. In the end she ended up being a magnificent underling, someone to carry on his vast knowledge on fighting and glory. Up to this day he still wonders the reason she pulled away from them. Yes, the beginning of their friendship had been, for the lack of a better term, hazardous. But in the end they worked their differences and eventually became a dynamic duo in battle and out of it. Even Aela mentioned it to them after she got assigned as the next Harbinger by Thales before the younger redhead left.
Getting on the strongest looking horse he was able to purchase, he galloped along the road that was going to take him to the one thing that truly makes him happy, a sense of liberation following behind.
There is slight hope in his heart that he can convince her to come back to them. To come back to him. And maybe this time, with an earnest attitude he’ll ask her to never leave his side again.

Date: 2013-12-07 11:19 pm (UTC)The city itself was like any other city in Skyrim: dull and cold. Riften is not a city he visits often, if ever. He tries to avoid it like the plague because his values never seem to fit through the wooden gates that keep the city enclosed. Vilkas doesn’t necessarily mean that the city is below him; there’s bad in every city in every region. This time thought, he’s here because he has to. Walking through the streets made him feel uncomfortable on a special level. He’s an incredibly strong man, and there is no way on this earth anyone could steal from him. Yet, as he passes people, the nagging feeling in his brain that they might be thieves comes up and doesn’t want to leave him alone. He thinks it has more to do with the fact that Thales would rather be a thief than the Harbinger, and that makes his saliva hard to swallow.
Vilkas vaguely remembers when Thales told him the details on how to find the Thieves Guild hideout, and so he ventured into the middle of the city looking for the god awful man that degraded his young underling in hopes of finding Thales instead. His grey eyes looked around for that face that he hates so much, and eventually found the thief in the market, selling stuff he doesn’t care to know about.
Brynjolf was, to his chagrin, an incredibly charming redheaded thief he met twice before. Thales had asked both him and Vilkas to help her out on two different assignments she had been doing months ago. The two personalities had instantly clashed with one another, and continued to do so during the undertakings. To say that they drove Thales crazy was an understatement. Vilkas could chuckle with delight at the memories if it weren't for the strained relationship between him and the Imperial.
“I’ve been looking for you.” The brunet spoke, but the redhead didn’t turn around to look at him in the face.
“I don’t see why you would.” Brynjolf moved around some bottles that were sitting in front of his table and placed them all inside a deep bag hanging from his shoulder.
“I want to talk to Thales.” And this time the redhead turned around to stare at him in disbelief. It baffled Vilkas, that this contemptible man would do such a thing. They don’t know each other and Vilkas is fairly sure they didn’t want to know each other. “You’re going to tell me where she is.”
“First,” the man smiled at him and Vilkas’ frown got deeper, “you don’t tell me what to do. Second, I suggest you leave before things get a little, ugly, lad.” His jaw clenched at the indifferent tone the man took to address him. Does he not know who he’s speaking with? Only the most powerful warrior in the Companions.
“You think YOU can tell me what to do. I need to speak with her, so do something illustrious for once and point me to her whereabouts.” The Companion knows his smirk was pissing the guy off, he on the other hand was enjoying it thoroughly.
“Look, I don’t want to tell you this again but you need to leave this city or—”
“Or what? The word around is that Thales is an accomplished warrior, I wonder who taught her such efficient systematic ways?”
Vilkas expected to intimidate the older man, but instead, the redhead threw his head back in a laugh. Some of the people walking around them turned to look curiously, and it made Vilkas wonder whether this man was usually a quiet one.
“Wow. I mean, I’m impressed. I already knew you were a presumptuous asshole, but I didn’t think you the unabashed kind.” The redhead extended one of his hands and grabbed Vilkas’ quickly, shaking it in a ‘polite’ manner. “It was such a displeasure seeing you here, have a nice trip back home.”
Vilkas frowned and pulled his hand away from the thief’s, and as soon as their fingers stopped touching, the redhead disappeared out of thin air in broad daylight. Smug smile and everything along with him.
“Wha—” The Nord looked around but the thief was nowhere to be seen. It was needless to say that the trick had been a neat one, the man didn’t drink a potion or anything, he just disappeared at will. But right now he had no time to admire disgusting magic tricks, he needed to find the hideout and speak with the woman once and for all.
THALES ~ 9b
Date: 2013-12-07 11:21 pm (UTC)As he stepped out, he couldn’t help but wonder why Thales finds this city to fascinating. There were some beggars sitting out on the cold around small fires, hoping to warm their bodies. Vilkas also spotted some wenches parading around drug addicts hoping to get a lay and some coins for food. It was such disheartening sight. The fact that Thales felt comfortable around all of this rather than the Companions.
Vilkas walked towards the wenches and decided to ask any of them where he could find the thieves. One of them, a blonde Nord, saw him and pushed the other lady next to her aside when he got close. She smiled and he thought she could be a beautiful lady if it were not for the heavy makeup and the scant amount of clothes on her body.
“Hello, handsome. Did you lose something? I might, hm, have what you’re looking for.”
“In fact I am looking for something. Do you happen to know where I can find the thieves from this city?” He tried to keep his distance from the woman, not because he found her repulsive or anything like that, but because he had an honorable reputation to keep.
“Aw, that’s all you’re looking for? Unfortunately I don’t know, no one knows except for them.”
“There really isn’t anything you can tell me to point me in the right direction?”
“Well…” The woman looked like she had something to say, but was hesitant about it. This made Vilkas frown. If no one but them were supposed to know about the place, how come Thales had told him before? The reason he doesn’t remember was because he had been too upset over her betrayal, too consumed by anger. Did she trust him enough to share such information with him? And all he did was turn his back to her.
“I’ll pay you anything, please, I need to know.” He turned to his pleading eyes, hoping he could still pull it off with his rough looks. Maybe if he looked desperate enough, she’ll tell him what he wants to know.
“Um, okay.” Her voice dropped to a whisper and she leaned into him to talk in his ear. “You didn’t hear it from me, but they seem to live in the sewers, and there is a rumor that an entrance happens to be under the city.”
Nodding with his head, Vilkas backed away from the woman and reached into a pouch sitting on his belt. He pulled out a handful of coins and gave them to her, with a curt nod he ventured away to look for a way to get ‘under the city’.
The city itself was sitting on a lake, and it seemed to have a second level as he leaned over the railing surrounding the central area and looked around. That could be where the entrance was.
It took Vilkas three hours of walking around and looking into corners and hollow spaces until he came to a gated door under the city. It was locked, but out of the corner of his eye he saw a small scratching on the stone surrounding it, a drawing that indicated the door had something to do with the Thieves Guild. Memories coming back of a drawing Thales did for him, letting him know where he could find her.
Shaking his head, he decided to put his skills to test and tried picking the lock with a knife he had on him, but to no avail. The raven-haired man felt shameful as he crouched in front of the lock, trying to open it like a damn thief. Instead, he pulled the heavy sword sitting on his back, and looked around for any city guards, and found none in his vicinity. He pushed the sword between the wall and the lock, and with a silent count to three the Nord pulled his body up and then janked on the sword until the loud snap of metal breaking reached his ears.
THALES ~ 9c
Date: 2013-12-07 11:24 pm (UTC)Thales kept floating in his thoughts as he moved along the dark underground. Minutes went by and the air started to get heavy and insufficient. Did he go into the wrong path? Didn’t matter anymore. Vilkas needed to find a way out and into the Thieves Guild hideout before death claimed his soul in this wretched place. Running along a wet rocky wall, his eyes didn’t see the ball with spikes hanging at the end of the hall. The rusted spikes pierced the skin on his neck and shoulder and the Nord cried out in pain, pushing the thing out of the way and falling on a wooden bridge.
Vilkas pushed himself up and hissed at the pain coming from the wounds, he should’ve worn his Wolf armor instead of this iron one, it would’ve kept the thing from inflicting wounds on him. Walking along the bridge, he came to a room with light, and surprisingly enough didn’t smell like death. He could hear sounds coming from the other side of the room, and so he walked towards what seemed to be a deep hallway with a wooden door.
Pushing his way into the other side, he stared ahead and saw what seemed to be a—bar. There were people sitting and talking, he smelt charcoal burning and the scent of flowers as well. He gave about ten steps before his surroundings were spinning and the last thing he saw was water as he fell unconscious.
